This is a great hack of the Amazon Dash button. Just tried it out and it worked the first time! :-) https://medium.com/@edwardbenson/how-i-hacked-amazon-s-5-wifi-button-to-track-baby-data-794214b0bdd8 Now how many Dash buttons will Amazon let me order...

@barryf watching your #indieweb video triggered my Amazon Echo! Turns out when you say "an excerpt" she hears "Alexa"

So far, Amazon Echo has been most useful for: 1) setting timers while cooking, 2) turning off the lights after I am in bed, 3) adding things to my grocery list.

Now that the SDK is available in beta, what kind of voice-enabled apps should I make! The prompts are somewhat limiting, basically the below with some variations:

    • "Alexa, ask {app name} to {command}"
    • "Alexa, launch {app name} and {command}"

  • Disassembling the Dash (www.bitsofcents.com)
At the heart of the Dash is a USI (Avnet) 850101. The 850101 is a combination wireless module (Broadcom BCM43362) and micro controller (ST Microelectronics STM32F205). This makes the Dash capable of connecting to 802.11 b/g/n networks with its 120MHz ARM Cortex-M3 processor. It also happens to be exactly the same chip used inside the $19 Spark Photon.
