Finally rigged up my system for archiving all my iPhone and DSLR photos on Flickr! Through a convoluted path involving Dropbox, a Synology NAS, and Eyefi card, and a lot of code to properly handle time zones and GPS data it's up and running!

I was *this close* to ditching my Dropbox subscription and switching to Bittorrent Sync, but then they went and upgraded all the plans to 1TB storage. https://www.dropbox.com/pro

  • Dropbox - What is your company going to make? (blog.jansenderek.com)
Dropbox synchronizes files across your/your team’s computers. It’s much better than uploading or email, because it’s automatic, integrated into Windows, and fits into the way you already work. There’s also a web interface, and the files are securely backed up to Amazon S3. Dropbox is kind of like taking the best elements of subversion, trac and rsync and making them ā€œjust workā€ for the average individual or team. Hackers have access to these tools, but normal people don’t.

  • How to back up Dropbox automatically - daily, weekly, monthly snapshots

Dropbox is great. Most of the time. It's great when I need to easily share files with people while working on a project together. It keeps files in sync between multiple computers, and is the only solution I've found so far which works seamlessly and instantaneously. If you don't already use it, I highly recommend it.

Hi, I'm Aaron Parecki, co-founder of IndieWebCamp. I maintain oauth.net, write and consult about OAuth, and am the editor of several W3C specifications. I help people learn about video production and livestreaming and dabble in product design.
