Day 68. I was determined to do something in under 30 minutes today. Decided to do something ethereal and mostly on the same tone to help make that easier. As weird as this is, I actually kind of like it.

  • Day 67: Adding Image Alt Text in Quill #100DaysOfIndieWeb

With Quill's new image uploading UI, I was able to easily add a form field for specifying image alt text. This is a relatively new feature of Micropub, added thanks to a review by the W3C accessibility group.

  • Day 67 - Whine

Day 67. I'm not super thrilled with this, but I have a bunch of other things I need to do today so I need to be finished. I like the opening bit with the filter that opens up for 2 bars, but I was having a hard time figuring out what else to do with this today.

  • Day 66: Nicer UI for Uploading Photos in Quill #100DaysOfIndieWeb

Today I cleaned up the interface for uploading photos in Quill. It was getting messy, since I had been slowly adding stuff to it, like support for multiple photos, supporting a Media Endpoint, etc. So here's how it works now!

  • Day 66 - Sweep

Day 66. Tried two new things today. First time attempting something in the "electro swing" style. I have a long ways to go to even approach sounding like Parov Stelar though. I also learned how to make the sweep sound that is in a bunch of this as well as other style music. The sweep sound is a white noise generator run through a filter whose cutoff frequency changing creates the sweep effect.

  • Day 65 - Distance

Day 65. I decided to keep it simple with this one, only adding the little chimes on top of the piano and no other instruments. I used a strong wet reverb effect on the piano to give it a "distant" feeling.

  • Day 65: Implementation Report Template for Micropub Clients #100DaysOfIndieWeb

I've been making progress on the Micropub.rocks test suite, but I am concerned about being able to finish it in time to get implementation reports through it. So instead, I published the implementation report template for clients as a text file, similar to how the Webmention reports are submitted.

  • Day 64 - Esplanade

Day 64. There was a brief moment of sun today, so I took the opportunity to go on a bike ride up and down the esplanade! This song has nothing to do with the ride, though. This song started with the bells you hear at the beginning, and I built it up from there. I actually wasn't planning on adding the drums and synth sound until I got half way through building up the strings, but I thought it would be an interesting way of quickly escalating it.

  • Day 64: Documentation and Fixes for my GPS Logger App #100DaysOfIndieWeb

I track my location continuously using an iOS app I wrote a few years ago. The app is not published on the app store, but it is open source. Today I added a bunch of documentation describing what all the controls in the interface are for.

Just tested out decoupling my Google Voice number from Hangouts thanks to the new Voice update. Mixed results as of now. After decoupling:

    • SMSs are sent and received only through the Google Voice app and voice.google.com, no longer in the Hangouts app.
    • The Google Voice app and website don't support making or receiving voice calls at all.
    • When I call from the Hangouts app, it still shows my Google Voice number as the caller ID.
    • Receiving calls to my number rings through Hangouts *only* on my phone. (It used to also ring through Gmail on my computer.)

Tested using the Google Voice iOS app. Thanks to @eayoungs for helping me test this out!

  • Day 63 - Build

Day 63. Got a late start on this again today. I was going for another super short "audio logo" style thing today. I made a totally different style video to accompany this to hint at the kind of thing I imagine this would be used for. Also had fun finding a few string samples like some major scale runs to use at the end.

  • Day 63: Autolinking Emoji to my Emoji List Pages #100DaysOfIndieWeb

Now that I have pages showing all posts that use a specific emoji such as 👍, I found myself wanting to be able to click the emoji in my posts to see other posts with that emoji. This is the same as how my autolinked hashtags work, where you can click on any hashtag in a post and see other posts with that hashtag.

Some pictures of my progress on BarBot today! 🍸🤖

I ran the tubes through the pumps, and up the top to form a faucet. I tested them all with water. The nice part of this design is all of the electronics are suspended above the liquor bottles, so I don't have to worry about any drops falling onto the circuits.

I formed the faucet shape by bending a wire to the shape I wanted, and clamping it to the cabinet with a wide washer. I ran the tubes along the wire and ziptied them.
