I'm curious, does anyone else remember a time on the Internet when "LOL" meant "lots of love"? Pretty sure I used to sign emails that way.

@tweethue I keep seeing references to being able to connect motion sensors or other ZigBee devices to the hub. Is that supported right now?

Notes from editing the #cyborgcamp livestream footage:

    • Make sure hosts and speakers do not start out by saying "so..." I think this is possible if there is more of a theatrical entrance rather than having them already at the front talking with organizers before talking to the audience.
    • Do a sound check with each speaker before-hand. Not because a sound check is necessary from the technical side, but to give the speakers a sense of how the mic works and to give you a chance to tell them how to hold it and to know how loud they will be.
    • Ask audience members to stand up and give them a microphone for questions.
    • Give the speakers an easy and obvious way to pick up and return the microphones.

    Questions:
    • Need an appropriate way to end each speaker after Q&A. Probably a "thank you" from the host. This provides a nice "outro" to some closing music/title sequence.

Successfully went to a restaurant, ordered, ate and paid and spoke entirely in German. The waitress didn't even attempt to try to speak English with me! How many Duolingo points do I get for that?

Just launched a bunch of #p3k updates:

    • Webmention handler now accepts a "vouch" parameter. If you send one, it will attempt to verify the vouch and reject the mention if the vouch is not approved. For backwards compatibility right now, webmentions are still accepted without a vouch parameter.
    • Webmentions that are vouched will show the URL that vouched for them alongside the comment.
    • Inbound links from referers are tracked internally which I will eventually use when trying to find a vouch URL when I want to send one.
    • I am now indexing domains that I link to, which is used internally for webmention approval, but is also exposed at a URL structure like http://aaronparecki.com/links-to/tantek.com
    • Imported my entire food logs from August 2013, so my date permalinks since then now show everything I've eaten: http://aaronparecki.com/2014/01/01

15 years ago I made a static website generator with Excel and Word. Excel was the data source and Word mail merge generated the files. #originalhipster

Going to start IndieWebCamp Day 2 by working on http://indiewebcamp.com/vouch

    • Step 1: create an approval algorithm
    • Step 2: when accepting webmentions, check against the approval algorithm
** if the source passes your initial approval algorithm, accept the webmention as normal
** if the source does not pass, return HTTP 449 to indicate the sender should re-try sending with a vouch parameter
    • Step 3: when a webmention comes in with a vouch, check webmention as normal, then verify the vouch:
** check if I approve the vouching domain (it passed my approval algorithm)
** fetch the vouch URL, verify that it actually does link to the source's domain without rel=nofollow
** if vouch verification fails, return HTTP 400

Notes from today's livestreaming of #cyborgcamp:

Things I need to bring next time:
    • extension cords for both video cameras
    • HDMI repeater so the cameras can be farther from the switcher
    • Gaffer's tape!

    Operations:
    • One stationary camera is fine, but it would be super useful to have a camera operator on another camera who can pan and zoom the camera to get better shots, especially when the audience is asking questions.
    • Need to leave a computer online at home with a large hard drive running Bittorrent Sync, so that I can have an off-site copy of the video after downloading the footage to my on-site hard drive.

    Unanswered questions:
    • How can I get a single channel of audio coming from room mics to be duplicated to the left and right digital channels that are being broadcast?
