Making Meetable Easier to Install
I've been working towards making Meetable more useful to others by making it easier to configure and deploy. I took a few shortcuts during the initial development that let me finish it faster, primarily by offloading authentication and image resizing to external services. Microsub specification says that notifications channel should get handled separately from others (that’s why it has a known UID and is the first). Cool feature of Java (and Kotlin) that allows me to do it: I set my Notifications fragment (that is separate from feeds) to a subclass of
MicrosubChannelFragmentthat sets “uid” to notifications. This prevents duplication of code, makes my channels pretty and saves effort! -
I think my favorite part of #IndieWeb is the ability to use interchangeable parts. I can post anywhere using a ton of external websites, or my own.
