This might be just my personal bubble, but I have never seen such a surge in small personal (micro-) blogs and feeds. No matter if it's level 6 #indieweb'bed or classic old school web – I like it.

You know what I really ❤️ about the #Indieweb is how all documentation and communication between the enthusiasts is so well organised and perfectly made available for future reference and it all is linked up really well together. I didn't want to post on Instagram until I had this problem solved. I need my Instagram posts to be copied to my blog so i have a controlled copy of my content. The service I used got blocked by Instagram so I had to write my own. So now I'm good again. If you've noticed https://OwnYourGram.com has been not working well lately, that's because Instagram is aggressively rate limiting certain requests.
I just updated it so that you can give it the URL of an individual photo and it will import it for you. Importing individual photos avoids a lot of the rate limiting issues so should work a lot better now.
If you've been missing some of your latest photos, feel free to log in and manually import them now! -

I replaced Monocle's Font Awesome SVG+JS icons with their SVG sprite icons and it loads soooo much faster now! There was always a visible delay while the JS loaded in the SVG icons. Now it's just handled by the browser with no JS.
I always assumed that it was a slow network causing the issues, but I opened up the browser tools to check and it turns out the slowdown was happening while rendering the page, not when fetching external data. Goes to show it's a good idea to open up the browser tools once in a while to check out what's happening under the hood!
It looks like switching to no-JS icons in monocle totally fixed the issues I was having with it! Sometimes when I opened a page it used to block on all interactions like marking things read or favoriting for a while. I didn't realize that it was the icon JS that was blocking it! Now that the icons don't require JS, it's free to start handling user interaction sooner and I can scroll and mark read even before the rest of the assets are loaded! -
