If you’re looking for an alternative, I strongly recommend Overland (https://Overland.p3k.io) by @aaronpk—tho you will need your own backend (which is a selling point IMHO)

@aaronpk could you share this script that adds the weather data? I'd like to add that to my setup.
Sure thing! Here's the script I use, you'll need to fill in the three API keys at the top of the file, and of course replace compass.p3k.io with your own domain. https://aaronparecki.com/2018/07/03/7/ -

Describing my ideal RSS reader, https://www.zylstra.org/blog/2018/07/my-ideal-rss-reader/ Maybe @TinyTinyRss_com can be the starting point for some tinkering #Indieweb #RSS
Pretty cool ideas! You can definitely create the group/folder model with the current #indieweb readers. I'd love to add a search feature to Monocle and Aperture too! -
Great news! @CathieLeBlanc has joined us as a leader and organizer for #IWC NYC. If you are interested in #IndieWeb and live in or around the Cit….stay tuned!!!

@aaronpk let me know if this is not the place…signed up to Aperture, added rel link to footer (hosted m.b.). Added a channel (my m.b) and Aperture grabbed latest entries. But Indigenous shows nothing.
Probably better to debug in the chat, Eddie (who made Indigenous) can help out there too. https://indieweb.org/discuss -
Recaps from the 8th annual IndieWeb Summit, Indigenous and Aperture open to the public, and announcing IndieWebCamp Berlin 2018. It's your ~10min update on the #IndieWeb community!
This Week in the IndieWeb audio edition for June 23rd - 29th, 2018.

@jameshull We should be getting back to a more regular schedule for the LA area Homebrew Website Club soon if you're interested in some of this stuff: https://indieweb.org/next-hwc

Just finished part 3 in my blog post series about #OAuth2 grant types. This one is about when to use the Password Grant. Spoiler: you probably shouldn't. https://developer.okta.com/blog/2018/06/29/what-is-the-oauth2-password-grant

A practical #indieweb approach I’m thinking of might be to use @hypothes_is as an annotation authoring engine (so you don’t have to recreate anchoring machinery), but on save write to your own site, prob as individual posts just like other microformat types. 1/

That poor server has been having trouble the last few weeks. It's not mine but I do have the ability to reboot it now.

Oh yeah, if whatever is checking for link tags doesn't mind it being anywhere on the page, that should work!
Give it a shot! I think most things are parsing the whole page for the rel values. -

Yes, hosted but no, I don’t think you can do that. They added some new IndieAuth stuff over the weekend but I don’t it covers this yet
@manton2 *just* posted that you can add custom HTML to the footer now! http://www.manton.org/2018/07/micro-blog-hosted-footer-html-and-redirects.html so I think you can add a link to a microsub server there now!

It's CSA season again! That means it's the time of year where we have way too many veggies appear every week and have to come up with creative ways to use them!
This is a zucchini waffle topped with a lemon pea spread.
Used three zucchinis and 2 pounds of peas. Only required two ingredients we didn't already have in the kitchen: fresh parsley and a preserved lemon.

Oh no.
I discovered Microsub servers, Aperture, Monocole, and Together.
What crazy new Indie-world is this?! https://indieweb.org/Microsub -
@namedotcom Just wanted to thank Jared for all he did. The #IndieWeb needs more lies like Jared.
Constantly filming and helping our participants.
Thanks for not only sponsoring but bringing such a leader.

Sending your First Webmention from Scratch
Webmention is one of the fundamental indieweb building blocks. It enables rich interactions between websites, like posting a comment or favorite on one site from another site. This post will walk you through the simplest way to get started sending webmentions to other sites so that you can use your own site to join the conversations happening on the Indie Web.continue reading... -
I love that I can see the IndieWeb likes come in on this post https://jacky.wtf/weblog/indieweb-summit-2018/ from both silos (like Twitter) and open platforms (IndieWeb sites) like a regular comment on the page.
