Thinking about two-factor auth at a nano level, requiring human confirmation before any client can actually post to your site via your micropub endpoint.

For example, I sign in to barnaby's experimental Taproot interface but don't trust it entirely yet. Instead of giving him blanket access to post to my site, every time his app makes a request to my micropub endpoint, it goes and asks me for confiramtion before publishing.

Either OOB confirmation (2-factor auth via SMS or something) or an OAuth-like confirmation dialog from the same browser window.

  • Swarm: First Impressions

I've only had Foursquare's new "Swarm" app for a day, but I'm already super impressed. By trimming out all of the search/review features, they're able to focus the app on providing a great checkin experience and providing more ways to connect with your friends.

Handy unintended feature of #iMessage: You can presence-query and test if phone numbers are still active.

The "login" process of Foursquare's new @SwarmApp was impressive. It already knew my Foursquare account and I didn't have to sign in or OAuth or anything! Current thinking is they're using the new UIDevice identifierForVendor property which returns the same ID across multiple apps by the same company.

This week has been a complete technology fail:

    • Primary backup hard drive array failed, taking out most of my archive files
    • Secondary backup hard drive was deleted due to partial failure of primary
    • Literally lost an old photo project save for a few remnants
    • Left my #narrativeclip on the plane (got it back tho!)
    • My narrative clip failed to record two key events this week despite being fully charged
    • Both my primary and secondary #jawbone UP devices failed
    • My phone lost all its contacts and won't sync with iCloud or Exchange anymore

Oh, and also lost a single piece from my 1961 Stratego set, making the game unplayable.

Here's looking forward to a better week!
