  • Day 84: Sending h-card Locations in OwnYourGram #100DaysOfIndieWeb

Today I added an option to OwnYourGram to opt in to receiving an h-card as the location property instead of a geo:// URI. On the dashboard, there is a setting to toggle between receiving a geo:// URI with file uploads, and an h-card location with a reference to the Instagram photo URL.

  • Day 83: RSVPs in Quill #100DaysOfIndieWeb

Quill now supports posting RSVPs! When you are replying to a URL that is an h-event, Quill will add an RSVP field to the post and let you choose between "Yes", "No", "Maybe" and "Interested".

  • Day 82: Switching to Let's Encrypt for XRay on App Engine #100DaysOfIndieWeb

A couple days ago, I switched most of my *.p3k.io domains over to individual Let's Encrypt certificates. It was relatively easy for the apps that are running on my main server. However, XRay is actually running on Google App Engine, which means my streamlined workflow for requesting and renewing certificates doesn't apply.

  • Day 81: Removing SMS and Clef from IndieAuth.com #100DaysOfIndieWeb

Sadly, Clef is shutting down in a couple months. If you haven't heard of it, it was a clever way to use your email and a mobile app to sign in to websites. I had integrated Clef logins to indieauth.com as one way to authenticate your email address. Since they are shutting down in June, I am proactively removing it from the website right now.

  • Day 80: Replaced my HTTPS Certificates #100DaysOfIndieWeb

Normally I wouldn't have let this kind of change qualify for my #100Days project, but I was blocked from using any of my indieweb tools, and I feel like there's a good lesson here.

  • Day 78: Beginning Update Tests for Micropub.rocks #100DaysOfIndieWeb

Today I started working on the update tests for Micropub.rocks. There is a bit more involved with these tests than tests for simpler things like creating posts, since the site has to create a dummy post that can be edited.

I worked on another round of client tests for micropub.rocks today. There are now client tests for querying the endpoint, and uploading an image to the Media Endpoint.

  • Day 75: Improvements to the Webmention Wiki Page #100DaysOfIndieWeb

I've been feeling like the Webmention page on the IndieWeb wiki doesn't do a very good job of explaining what Webmention does for users, and jumps too quickly into spec details. I would like to be able to direct people at this page when I am talking to them online about what Webmention can do, which often means what I am trying to show them is how Webmention can be used to display comments and other interactions on a website. Today I started to make some incremental improvements.

  • Day 74: Added a Chat Widget to my Website! #100DaysOfIndieWeb

A couple weeks ago, sknebel asked whether anyone in the #indieweb channel had a chat widget on their website. I used to have a form you could fill out and it would send me an SMS to my candybar phone, and a little while after that I had a prototype of a chat widget that disappeared somewhere along the way. I thought it would be fun to resurrect that idea!

  • Day 73: Updated Documentation for indieauth.com #100DaysOfIndieWeb

On the last telcon of the W3C Social Web Working Group, we voted to request that Micropub move to PR, the next stage of publication within the W3C! This is the second to last step before Micropub becomes a W3C Recommendation!

  • Day 70: Editing Reposts in Quill

Now that I have a basic pattern for supporting edits in Quill, I was able to quickly add support for editing reposts today. It works the same as yesterday's project of supporting edits of "likes", where the main "edit" page detects the "repost-of" property in the post and redirects to the repost interface. Not much else to say about today's project other than that!

Today in Things I Should Have Done Ages Ago... I finally started adding support to Quill for editing posts. I'm going to have to build this out one by one for each post interface Quill supports, so I started with the easiest one, favorites.

  • Day 67: Adding Image Alt Text in Quill #100DaysOfIndieWeb

With Quill's new image uploading UI, I was able to easily add a form field for specifying image alt text. This is a relatively new feature of Micropub, added thanks to a review by the W3C accessibility group.

  • Day 66: Nicer UI for Uploading Photos in Quill #100DaysOfIndieWeb

Today I cleaned up the interface for uploading photos in Quill. It was getting messy, since I had been slowly adding stuff to it, like support for multiple photos, supporting a Media Endpoint, etc. So here's how it works now!

  • Day 65: Implementation Report Template for Micropub Clients #100DaysOfIndieWeb

I've been making progress on the Micropub.rocks test suite, but I am concerned about being able to finish it in time to get implementation reports through it. So instead, I published the implementation report template for clients as a text file, similar to how the Webmention reports are submitted.
