  • Day 19: Automatically fetching reposted content #100DaysOfIndieWeb

    January 8, 2017

Yesterday, I updated my website to show the full contents of reposts. Today, I took that to the next step, and I now automatically fetch the contents of reposts when they are made. I also expanded the repost display to include showing the photo if I reposted a photo!

The original post's photos are downloaded locally so that I am serving a local copy of the photo, and the avatars are archived the same way they are for my comments.

I went ahead and imported the repost content for all non-Twitter URLs on my site, you can see them here: https://aaronparecki.com/reposts

Of course this only works for reposting things that have h-entry markup, so my next step is to enable support for expanding Tweet URLs, Instagram photos, and other silos too.
