  • Where was I when I took this photo?

My DSLR camera doesn't have GPS, so normally all my photos would not include the location of where I was when I took the photo. I used to use the Eye-Fi card that did geotagging, but that is no longer supported in the new "mobi" line. I could get an external GPS unit for my camera, but that sounds cumbersome and would only work with that one camera.

  • IndieWebCamp Nürnberg Hack Day

At IndieWebCamp Nürnberg, I didn't end up spending time on my home page design, despite a great day 1 discussion on the topic. Instead, I made a few fixes to my site, and built a quick indie reader in IRC, which shows me posts from people I'm following, and lets me reply to them from IRC as well. It's ugly, but it works!

  • New integrated authorization server for p3k

I just launched an update to p3k which adds an integrated authorization server. This means that now when I sign in to Micropub apps like Quill, it will redirect me to my own server where I can have more fine-grained control over the access I am granting the application.

okay I can definitely make Compass generate the image and send that in the Micropub request! I think I will make some settings so that you can customize what is included in the Micropub request, as well as choose the dimensions of the image to generate. Maybe if I'm feeling ambitious I can make it so you can choose which map style to use! https://github.com/aaronpk/Static-Maps-API-PHP/#parameters

wow I'm impressed you got that all hooked up! This was definitely not ready for prime time yet!

I just fixed up https://compass.p3k.io/ since I'm going to be using that starting next week. If you want to continue using these, you should switch to the p3k one, since the other one you found will likely be deleted occasionally.

I haven't documented the "trip" feature yet, but you likely saw it if you used the app. I'll have docs soon, but basically it makes a Micropub post to your server when a trip is completed. This is how I'm going to be tracking my bike rides and runs from now on!

Using https://switchboard.p3k.io as my PuSH 0.4 hub as of March! https://github.com/aaronpk/p3k-core/commit/68aab1af05df8efb07a3b21f1f1525ac9a1756ba Definitely let me know if you notice any bugs with getting pings since it's still a little rough around the edges.

  • Designing an IndieWeb Reader Based on How I Read Social Media

In the current world of silos dominating the social media space, people typically have to visit half a dozen websites or apps to see all the latest content from friends. At this point I'm sick of this "multiple inbox" model that I want to find an alternative as fast as possible.

  • Owning My Data in 2014

The core principle of the IndieWeb is to own your data by creating content on your own domain with permalinks you control, rather than creating content in silos.

The Github activity page is an interesting example of a feed where the entries have both an author photo as well as an icon indicating the type of entry.

    http://aaronparecki.com/uploads/Github_activity_page-20150101-170906.png

Currently my entries have a place for a single image which is either the author photo or an icon representing the post type. Maybe this is something I should think about redesigning.
