The things people carry on their bikes in Amsterdam never cease to amaze me. In just 15 minutes at this cafe I've seen people carrying: a guitar, children, a rug, grocery bags, a suitcase, two large dogs, a bouquet, four cases of wine. I love how absolutely normal it is too.

Echo Frames - more or less likely to succeed than Google Glass? At least these pretty much look like normal glasses.

Outlook Web is basically useless on a slow internet connection.

It seems like every click requires a round-trip to the server before it acknowledges the click. Trying to reply to an email? Click "reply", wait until the server acknowledges, then it opens the reply window.

I just discovered a disturbing real-world vulnerability by accident.

A couple hours after checking in to my hotel, I went back to the front desk and said "I need to add someone to my room because her flight gets in late this evening." The clerk asked my room number, and I told her and also said my name. A few seconds later, after asking me to spell the name to add, there's a new name on my room reservation. Nowhere in this process did she check my ID.

Did I accidentally socially engineer my way into adding an unrelated name onto a room reservation?

I do appreciate that the Qantas in-flight video points out that "your flight has great coffee too"

Still surprised that for domestic flights in Australia you can get thru airport security without an ID or boarding pass and can get on the plane with no ID.

Minor moment of panic at the ticket counter trying to get a boarding pass when they said I need a visa before I can check in to the flight to Australia.

Turns out the visa "application" process was just filling out a web form on my phone, and it was "approved" immediately. I was worried I was gonna have to wait a full business day or something but guess not!

Also kind of weird is the ticket agent just had to check a box that said I have the visa, and that person would be fined $5000 if they were wrong. Seems like not the most ideal way to enforce that but okay.

wow I managed to get by from 11pm last night to 10am this morning thinking I was on east coast time rather than central. Thankfully my phone is smarter than me.

oh no it finally happened. I forgot to book a hotel for this trip and only realized when I landed at 11:30pm.

I decided to make and can hot sauce the same morning as @XOXO and now I am stuck here literally watching this pot boil instead of heading to registration

ugh I am like 4 months behind on sorting photos out of my SD cards into their permanent home and I really think I need to do that before my next round of trips but it just sounds like a lot of work! 😭

This @jack situation is making me rethink my phone number strategy. I've been treating my SIM number as disposable and easily replaceable, where the number I use for 2FA is a google voice number. But now I'm thinking treating my SIM number as a password is a better plan.
