this redeye to JFK has tailwind so it's only 4.5 hours there and all the flight crew is excited but I'd rather have a longer flight to get more sleep

I like this new term "agenda gardening" instead of "agenda bashing." So much less unnecessary violence. #W3C

This morning I gave a brief talk about IndieAuth at the @W3C Strong Authentication and Identity workshop. I just finished transcribing the recording and published the slides and video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeCNlB7v08I

Good to know it's not just me, the new Gmail really is slow. https://medium.com/@boriscoder/peeking-under-the-hood-of-redesigned-gmail-dd84b532e0f5

Also gotta love the author's use of Google's own tools to profile the performance of Gmail. If only the Google engineers would do the same.

So it turns out my TV didn't break after all. There was just a secret power switch on the bottom that I didn't know existed.

My TV broke just in time for the Black Friday deals. I'm on the train right now heading to the Best Buy by the airport, and with any luck will emerge with a new TV. Or I will find out how many people come down from Vancouver to shop at that Best Buy. Wish me luck.

Yet another example of why SMS is terrible for 2fa and account recovery.

"the database β€” running on Amazon’s Elasticsearch β€” was configured with a Kibana front-end, making the data within easily readable"

Woke up this morning to find a bunch of my @kmikeym shares sold, and while I was trying to figure out where the sudden influx was from, watched my iPhone 6S battery drain from 100% to 70% in a matter of minutes.

Decided to use the @kmikeym bux to buy a new phone. An hour later, I have a new iPhone XS in hand, thanks to the magic of the internet and Postmates couriers. And thus begins my life without a headphone jack.
