That post gave me a MUCH better idea of what IndieWeb actually is than IndieWeb’s own website. Thanks for sharing.

My slides from #nidevconf18 on "Playing with the #IndieWeb" are now available at https://noti.st/srushe/7D5URN/playing-with-the-indieweb. The irony of using a silo for this is not lost on me. When I put my new site together there will be a slides section :)

So tl;dr - different formats make sense in different contexts depending on your priorities. When you're talking to humans, month names win hands down. When you're writing an API, ISO formats win hands down. Pick the right one for the job.

I forced a bot to watch over 1,000 hours of Olive Garden commercials and then asked it to write an Olive Garden commercial of its own. Here is the first page.

Q: Doesn't that hurt our job security?
ESR (paraphrased): It's our responsibility to make sure things work and the world works and people don't die. That's all I'm going to say about job security.

I did that. Literally I was on stage MCing the intro to #ml4all and my alarm, set to 9am, went off right after I encouraged people to silence their phones for talks. I couldn't have timed it better if I had tried.

Pulled my source from Github. Hosting on a clone I wrote over the weekend in Erlang, Go and Haskell. Running on a Raspberry Pi cluster, encased in a diceware locked safe under my foot stool. Cooled by Bitcoin trader's tears and oat milk.

    Fresher service workers, by default

    June 5th, 2018

“Ah, this is good news!”, I thought, reading this update about how service worker scripts won’t be cached.

And that was the moment when I realised what an utter nerd I had become.

Vanilla JavaScript is a term frequently used to describe ordinary JavaScript leveraging the browser & DOM APIs. Yes, you read that correctly. No Angular, React, Vue, or even jQuery. And even better it’s not as complicated as you might assume! Learn more → https://developer.okta.com/blog/2018/06/05/authentication-vanilla-js
