So tl;dr - different formats make sense in different contexts depending on your priorities. When you're talking to humans, month names win hands down. When you're writing an API, ISO formats win hands down. Pick the right one for the job.

I did that. Literally I was on stage MCing the intro to #ml4all and my alarm, set to 9am, went off right after I encouraged people to silence their phones for talks. I couldn't have timed it better if I had tried.
