To transfer money to friends, I have to enter my bank password in all of these different origins (e.g. transferwife, google pay). The only line of defense seems to be SMS OTP verification. Shouldn't banks be the most advanced in online security?
    Aaron Parecki
    😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣

    we'll get there eventually

Also images on the site should load much faster.

Techie details: I've added an image proxy, funneled images through it, and stood up Cloudflare in front of that. Should speed things up nicely without breaking my servers.

    Aaron Parecki
oh no, looks like you're using the same imageproxy as my reader, and it has a bug where it can't accept its own URLs 😆

Oops, it happened again! This is what I've been working on lately - I found another alg=none JWT bug :) https://www.zofrex.com/blog/2020/10/20/alg-none-jwt-nhs-contact-tracing-app/

Great writeup, and kudos for posting this on your own blog instead of on Medium 😆

I just realized I never went jet-skiing with @johnhilltube because I never followed through booking a time after buying on groupon 😑 UGH
Is why companies do groupon? It must happen all of the time
    Aaron Parecki
That happened to me with a helicopter ride like 10 years ago. I doubt that guy's going to accept my groupon anymore 😆

I finished giving a lecture to my college students with the phrase, "alright, I'm done" and it was so satisfying. @GeraldUndone

Video started off at 16 minutes 30 seconds after the initial rough cut and after the second pass is 12 minutes 47 seconds and I feel MUCH better about it.

Hopefully YouTube will feel the same way 🤣
    Aaron Parecki
eh I'll hold out for the 90 second cut 😆

Last night at the #oredev speaker dinner I got to participate in either an old Swedish tradition or an elaborate prank they play on foreigners: alternating between the sauna and jumping into the Baltic Sea three times.

Either way it was a fun experience. 😆

OH. So not just for motion? The sound, smoke alarm, and CO alarm toggles all go to the cloud as well. I'll share your request for universal button with the team. Sorry for my confusion!
    Aaron Parecki
I just want to make sure the footage isn't uploaded anywhere. None of these explanations give me much confidence 😆 A button to specifically disable cloud recording would be great.

Hm, I kind of wonder what this functionality is used for if most of the people read the text in their reader which I would guess would not show that?

    Aaron Parecki
Just for fun 😆 Or maybe eventually we add support in readers!

@aaronpk Yeah I am working off those, currently at the IRC/Discord stage. I got the stuff in the blog posts working but weirdly I'm having problems where Mastodon likes my keypair signing for most things except for an "Accept" follow message. Even though it's the same keypair and code. (Messy reference code would be great, even if you just emailed me a zip or something)

    Aaron Parecki
haha okay! I will unapologetically send you a pile of code, with the only documentation being the inline comments! 😆
