@aaronpk GrandStream HT802 works *great* for pulse dialing (optional mode). Have multiple rotary phones in operation using it. https://www.grandstream.com/products/gateways-and-atas/analog-telephone-adaptors/product/ht802

I have thought about using a sidecar (wired) or handheld DTMF (acoustical) generator - they used to have such things. havn't done so yet

    Aaron Parecki
That's the one I was testing with but I didn't realize it supports pulse dialing! The retro phone I got is actually sold new and supports tone dialing even though it has a rotary dial! https://opis-tech.com/en/opis-1921-cable-d

    Aaron Parecki
well not quite! This is still temporary power and only for our unit, but at least we can use the lights and even run the fridge now!

@aaronpk that connector looks really silly. US plugs are something

    Aaron Parecki
To be fair, this is not a "normal" plug in the US. This is rated for 240v 50a, our normal plugs are 120v 15a. This one is meant for hooking up an RV or boat to a generator. What would an equivalent look like in Germany?

My electrician explained how the other end is connected... the white wire is actually the second phase hot wire, and the green wire is tied to both ground and neutral at the pole.
    Aaron Parecki
and we're live! Feeding the generator inlet with a 30 amp extension cord that runs to the temp pole at the street!

Hooking up a 3-wire extension cord to a 4-wire plug, what could go wrong 😃
