randomly decided to check my spam folder today and found a week-old email from a client asking if they could pay an invoice using @Wise and asked for my bank account number.

*of course* that got flagged as spam 🤦‍♂️

Today I discovered that my website's tip jar was being used to test stolen credit cards. There were hundreds of attempted $1 charges over the last week. Thankfully @Stripe rejected most of them and only a handful went through, but I'm still stuck with $37 in processing fees. 💸

Two things that have made getting around #Tokyo extremely easy:

    1. Using the eSIM in my iPhone XS to activate a data plan on my phone without having to deal with finding a retail store to buy a real SIM card. Also was surprisingly affordable.
    2. Buying a Suica card and transferring it to my iPhone Wallet. The Suica card is used for getting on trains and subways, but also you can pay at vending machines and many retail stores as well! Once you have the card transferred you can top it up via Apple Pay! That means you can get around almost entirely without cash as a tourist!

  • Payment Requests using Stripe and Apple Pay

At IndieWebCamp Austin, I was inspired by the discussion at the Payments session. In the session, we talked about the recent Patreon fee change disaster, and how creators could use their own websites to accept payments from their supporters.

  • Amazing app makes me the product! - CurrentC App Review (forums.macrumors.com)
CurrentC allows me to expose all of my personal information to retailers so they can use it as they please! I love the ease of use of opening up my spending habits to retailers with no concern for my privacy. Future feature requests- * Please tie in my store Wi-Fi and location data so you can track every aspect of me in your store. * Please sell my data to your CurrentC partners * Better yet, sell my spending habits to junk mail companies -- I love unsolicited mail * Allow me to upload all of my contacts to your database so you can share all of your high-value brand recognition with my friends and family * I would like to see very large web ads within your app since I now have a larger phone screen size. * On occasion leak your cloud data about me to others to expose my details to as many other businesses and enterprising programmers in foreign lands. * Add a few more steps to the process of using the app for payment so I further enjoy the time it takes to stand at a check out line in a store.
