Notes from today's livestreaming of #cyborgcamp:

Things I need to bring next time:
    • extension cords for both video cameras
    • HDMI repeater so the cameras can be farther from the switcher
    • Gaffer's tape!

    Operations:
    • One stationary camera is fine, but it would be super useful to have a camera operator on another camera who can pan and zoom the camera to get better shots, especially when the audience is asking questions.
    • Need to leave a computer online at home with a large hard drive running Bittorrent Sync, so that I can have an off-site copy of the video after downloading the footage to my on-site hard drive.

    Unanswered questions:
    • How can I get a single channel of audio coming from room mics to be duplicated to the left and right digital channels that are being broadcast?

My first attempt at live streaming an event is a bit hacky. Currently have video streaming via Youtube on a wired connection, audio streaming via Google Hangouts over wireless. Recording to two SD cards on the cameras so hopefully I can put together a nice version of this after the fact.

Hi, I'm Aaron Parecki, Director of Identity Standards at Okta, and co-founder of IndieWebCamp. I maintain oauth.net, write and consult about OAuth, and participate in the OAuth Working Group at the IETF. I also help people learn about video production and livestreaming. (detailed bio)

I've been tracking my location since 2008 and I wrote 100 songs in 100 days. I've spoken at conferences around the world about owning your data, OAuth, quantified self, and explained why R is a vowel. Read more.
