I agree with your sentiment but all I see looking at this map is that it was made in ArcGIS Online and it doesn’t have retina tiles. 😭

I am so sick of this. I had a huge ad agency ask me to speak at their “diversity” event about finance for women. I asked for a token honorarium and they said it was out of their budget but that I would get exposure. Guess what? My $$ advice for women is don’t work for exposure.

I've read about technologies under the umbrella of the "Indie Web" before but never really leaned into it. I'm categorically compelled by the idea now! It feels like an attempt at reclaiming some of what we've lost on the internet: https://indieweb.org/

"Dear @cwebber, I don't suppose you have opinions about how to implement a web of trust system for the fediverse???"

Heck yeah I have opinions, and here's how you do it: you combine it with a petnames system: https://chat.indieweb.org/social/2018-08-14#t1534216302328700

Great to see podcast apps picking this up again 🎉 Was our biggest success at Flattr in my opinion - that clients could discover Flattr-capability in the RSS and eg. auto-flattr episodes. We promoted and used rel-payment ourselves and I long ran a site listing supporters.

Hacked it together! Added a field for podcasters to add a "support this show URL" to their show. We'll automatically append <a rel="payment"> to every episode's description.

Any idea why it hasn’t made it to the extension list explicitly linked to in the W3C spec?
    Aaron Parecki
In any case, having another consumer deployed will only help make the case to add it to the official registry! Especially when a few podcasts start to publish it too.

That’s a good question! I suspect it’s because there weren’t enough examples of publishers and consumers, but I’m having trouble finding a reference to the formal process to get things added to that list.

Couldn’t find anything either in the spec for rel targets (https://www.w3.org/TR/html50/links.html#linkTypes) or in the micro format lists, to which you are allowed to contribute: http://microformats.org/wiki/existing-rel-values#HTML5_link_type_extensions

@arebee the goal is for these links to show up “for free” in any player that displays notes (HTML)
    Aaron Parecki
It's been listed here for ages! http://microformats.org/wiki/existing-rel-values#proposals

Also I just added it to the list of implementations here http://microformats.org/wiki/rel-payment#Implementations

This is great news for podcaster creators! Now podcasters have an easy way to let listeners support the podcast financially! Thanks for taking the lead on this @marcoarment, I hope other podcast apps follow suit! https://twitter.com/marcoarment/status/1028451747734409216

A bonus with the show-notes approach, is that — with or without app support, with or without real=payment standardization — it’s still a working link. Creators could use it *today*, before a single app supports it.

Simple, dumb, awesome HTML, succeeding like it always does…

Podcasters and CMS makers: Next version of Overcast looks for a link in every episode's show notes with .

If present, Overcast adds a nice green "$" button on the Now Playing screen that opens up that donation/Patreon/membership URL of your choice.

I asked a bunch of podcasters a few years ago if they'd participate in a shared-payment plan in Overcast.

The responses were universally tepid: podcasters don't want middlemen added to their revenue streams or the relationship they have with their listeners.
