I stated my opinion. I'm not sure why RSS/Atom are insufficient when I see how many more moving parts are involved in IndieWeb. I'm not concerned with how that "looks". That's how I want it to look. If you give me better feedback than simply suggesting i go all in, that's welcome
    Aaron Parecki
I didn't mean to suggest to go all in. I meant literally try using RSS/Atom for that. You'll run up against a bunch of walls real quick.

I'm having trouble understanding why I would make the investment. I don't need to try it until I believe there's a reasonable chance at a payoff. I have too many other ways to spend my time.
    Aaron Parecki
That's fine too, but making broad statements without anything to back it up isn't really a good look.

I'm not sure why RSS/Atom is insufficient for pretty much all social updates. IndieWeb tech is certainly more convoluted without obvious benefits.
    Aaron Parecki
I'll give you a hint: actually try it

Yes, I did it. I created a #MONSTER!!! The Albino ATEM is here, and you can do it to! Turn your #atemmini, #atemminipro, or #atemminiproiso into a custom piece of studio gear to wow your clients and fellow nerds like us! @Blackmagic_News

lol amazing! I just repainted my studio table white and had a thought for a moment of... what would happen if I did this to my ATEM!

I get a lot of requests for coding tests in my videos, but I'm the farthest thing from a coder.

So to all the coders out there I hear you and want to include you.

Is there a program I can buy or run to give you a sense of the power of a tablet/computer?

    Deep piano

    Aaron Parecki
It never even occurred to me that there might be new ways to teach/learn piano now, after having not taken lessons in like 20 years. But I guess it's still the same anyway.

@aaronpk does Okta support the OAuth device code grant type and/or the oob redirect (urn:ietf:params:oauth:grant-type:device_code / urn:ietf:wg:oauth:2.0:oob)?

If not, any thoughts on how one might obtain an OIDC ID token from Okta at the command line on a remote machine?
    Aaron Parecki
It doesn't support the device code flow out of the box (yet), but here are some options for how to do it on the command line with the auth code flow: https://developer.okta.com/blog/2018/07/16/oauth-2-command-line https://developer.okta.com/blog/2019/06/18/command-line-app-with-nodejs

    @aaronpk

Don't know about other operating systems but on linux (and I think Mac) you can use the date command at the command line:

Want to know what time it will be locally when it is 12 noon in Sydney, Australia next Monday?

    date --date='TZ="Australia/Sydney" 12:00 next Mon'

If you know how to write shell scripts you could incorporate this command into one.

date is part of the Gnu coreutils package

    Other relevant links:

    https://www.gnu.org/software/libc/manual/html_node/TZ-Variable.html#TZ-Variable

    Aaron Parecki
yeah I have plenty of tools for me to be able to convert timezones, but what I specifically need is for someone else to be able to look at an invite I create in their own timezone, as well as the option to choose multiple. In any case it looks like Fantastical does exactly this and I've been using the app already and had no idea!
