Oh no, 90% of the work is done before I hit record, that means editing is super easy.

also what voodoo do you use that allows you to start filming a video the night before it’ll be released?? you must really have your post-production workflow down!

I tend to spend 3x more time editing than filming.

Dang I get both my new lens and new microphone tomorrow.

But I need to shoot tomorrow’s video tonight....do I risk waiting or should I be responsible and keep to schedule.

@photojoseph @aaronpk I am a novice to these techs. Any idea why do I get this greenish screen with my new (inexpensive) camcorder connected to ATEM Mini?
    Aaron Parecki
I've seen a similar problem outputting from HDMI devices into certain monitors. Turns out HDMI has two different color modes, RGB and YUV, and some devices only support one or the other. If the camera has a setting for that, it might fix it, but I'm betting it does not.

When you compose the thumbnail but forget you set your camera to 4:3 for some family pictures...and you remember right when you sit down and import everything into photoshop. 😭
    Aaron Parecki
I’ve definitely had to “content-aware fill” some photos because of that 🤦‍♂️

I think that's distant enough, lots of photography answers in this thread. So you'd make the gear or use it?
    Aaron Parecki
I've been making videos about how to use different kinds of cameras and streaming gear. It's a nice break from the tech world even if there's still some tech aspect to it.

If you were just going to walk away from tech entirely what would you do instead?
    Aaron Parecki
Define tech? Cause I've been enjoying getting into the camera gear YouTube world lately which is completely different from software development tech

Totally—it’s a beautiful phone. I often carry a separate camera, and prefer small, cheap and simple.
    Aaron Parecki
‪Yeah I'm leaning that direction too. Even tho the iPhone camera is pretty good, a camera with a bigger sensor (RX100 or G7X) is still so much better. If I'm gonna post a picture I care about the quality, I'll use a real camera. The iPhone is good for random photos of my cat.‬

I wasn't thrilled about FaceID when it launched, but the other features of the XS were worth it since I was upgrading from the 6S.

    Apple has:

    FCPX
    Motion
    Compressor
    Logic Pro X

Why isn't there a pro photo app?

Aperture was one of my favorite apps. They should have kept it going.
    Aaron Parecki
I miss Aperture so much! It took me a while but I decided to go all in on Aperture. A few months later they dropped it. 😣

    Took three hours to:

    • get my laptop to tell Home Assistant that I’m around via MQTT
    • reconfigure my lighting automation to take it into consideration

    Bonus:

    • got some info on screen locking state and idle time to help adjusting lighting info

    Thanks to Node-RED!

I’m interested in improving the image quality for my video calls. Sadly, no one seems to make a truly high-end webcam. The alternative seems to be mirrorless cameras and HDMI capture devices. Am I missing something?
    Aaron Parecki
Seems like there might be suddenly a market for a USB camera with a nice lens.

There are however high end webcams that are used in offices, but they tend to be $2k or more which is not exactly a home user price point.

You might be surprised! Also check out this list which is about Webmentions in general rather than the specific service webmention.io https://indieweb.org/Webmention including lots of software that supports it! And if you've never heard of micro.blog, now's a good time, because everyone there is regularly sending and receiving webmentions too!

How many YouTubers can relate… I’m editing a video and keep yelling at the idiot on screen to get it together and stop flubbing his lines.

    Naturally, that idiot is me.
