The iMac Pro looks great. I’m still laptop-only, though, so not tempted at all. It’s gonna be popular for video folks and developers.

That does look nice! I've been laptop-only since about 2010, not sure what it would take to make me switch back, but this is tempting. Tho I'm sure once I see the price I'll drop that thought quickly.

No surprise that Amazon intends to be selling everything from tops to bots.
Wonder how much they would charge for something like http://zucker.bot?
What would your favourite bot name be?

A clarification: I believe in the principles of #indiweb and am trying to get something set up. This is not the first time I have tried, but it is the first time I have asked for help and engaged the community, and I am finding it very welcoming. I am frustrated, because I am having issues with many things, including joining the irc channel via Slack (email never came). I am not a newbie to web development, but am feeling like one.
    Aaron Parecki
Sorry to hear the Slack invite isn't working! I didn't see anything wrong on my end, but I can try adding you manually! Send me your email address and let's try it that way: https://aaronparecki.com/contact/

@aaronpk hi Aaron, I have an issue with SSL calls to webmention.io and wonder if you’re aware of anything wrong on it.

It might be on my side, but it worked last week and I didn’t change anything.

    I’m using @AaronGustafson’s Jekyll plugin:

You're right about indieauth, yeah, true :)
I looked at auth0, who have the same "you have to register a callback URL" problem. Didn't try oauth.io; thank you! I wish OpenID hadn't gone away; this was completely what it was for :)
    Aaron Parecki
I know right? There is some new stuff in OAuth 2 around dynamic client registration trying to solve this, but I'm not sure how widely implemented it is yet. Certainly GitHub hasn't implemented it, mayyybe Google has: https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc7591

Yeah. I was hoping that if I put my auth URL into indieauth AS http://github.com/myusername, then it wouldn't bother following rel=me links and would just use it directly, but no. Might be an interesting enhancement, @aaronparecki? I bet @kevinmarks can tell me why it's a bad idea ;)
    Aaron Parecki
Not a *bad* idea, but also not the goal of indieauth.com. At some point you'll be relying on someone's Github/Google API key, either that of indieauth.com or another service. Maybe check out https://oauth.io/ or https://auth0.com/

Nice to see @Chase has added formal support for third party account access using OAuth 2.0. You no longer have to provide your credentials to @mint. @AmericanExpress, @Fidelity, @allybank, @TDBank_US when will you be rolling this out?
    Aaron Parecki
That's fantastic! Do you have a link to their docs on this?

Your enlightened thought of the morning: if you position yourself as a leader of the #IndieWeb and #MicroBlogging movements, maybe the URL of your #RSS Feed should not contain the words “something-demo.appspot.com” in lieu of your blog’s actual domain? 🤔
    Aaron Parecki
You're right. I just switched my Atom feed to be a local URL that redirects to Granary. The reason I don't want to generate my own XML feed is it's too hard to get right, especially with all the nontraditional content on my home page like checkins. #indieweb

What’s awesome? I still don’t get why I should be adding a third party (same dependency pb as Disqus) when my blog handles trackbacks alone.
    Aaron Parecki
There's nothing third party about the webmention spec! There are some services that will collect webmentions for you, but you can also receive them directly yourself!
