One reason to do that: you forward a message to me, I click unsubscribe and unsub you.
    Aaron Parecki
@akalsey I guess that's fair. Then it should pre-fill my email address. Otherwise I may not even know which of my addresses is subscribed!

Other than not using XMLRPC to send and receive them, what makes Webmentions better than Ping/Trackbacks? https://indieweb.org/Webmention
    Aaron Parecki
@jeffr0 Frankly not using XMLRPC is enough, but Webmention also supports updates and deletes, as well as extensions https://indieweb.org/Webmention-faq#Why_webmention_instead_of_pingback

a long time ago, we hung paper snowflakes in the window...above our menorahs. After a few minutes, the candles caught the paper on fire, and my dad pulled the burning snowflakes down and stomped them out, but they left some scorch marks on the carpet for years after.

Amazon had a crazy sale on them during Prime Day and then again this weekend. They're like $120 retail but were daiscounted to $60-70. After everyone was raving about them after Prime Day, I held my finger over the "buy" button until the price dropped again and went for it! So far I'm happy with it! I made rice last night in under 10 minutes!

Yes! There's a handful of technologies that enable exactly this kind of thing! Check out the Wordpress page on the IndieWeb wiki for a start: https://indieweb.org/Wordpress

The technology that enables comments to work across blogs is called Webmention, and there's a plugin for Wordpress too! https://wordpress.org/plugins/webmention/

Feel free to drop by the chat if you'd like help getting started with any of this! https://indieweb.org/discuss

    Aaron Parecki
@cvoxel Yes! There are some Wordpress plugins! I'll leave more info as a comment on your blog post!

I'm actually very curious specifically what tools you think would be useful.

Right, we have to make tools people actually need and can use. I'm not talking usual indieweb stuff here.

Busting social media silos and re-decentralizing the web is one of the most important things technologists can be helping with now.

Hi, I'm Aaron Parecki, Director of Identity Standards at Okta, and co-founder of IndieWebCamp. I maintain oauth.net, write and consult about OAuth, and participate in the OAuth Working Group at the IETF. I also help people learn about video production and livestreaming. (detailed bio)

I've been tracking my location since 2008 and I wrote 100 songs in 100 days. I've spoken at conferences around the world about owning your data, OAuth, quantified self, and explained why R is a vowel. Read more.
