@aaronpk What is the kind of thing you are skeptical of for a Voice driven OS?
    Aaron Parecki
@skyler Amazon limiting the vocabulary to a small set of things really helps cut down the error rate, but I still manage to have it mis-hear me quite a lot. Also many tasks are too complicated to do by voice, and are easier done with a good physical interface. I am excited to be able to try out living with a voice interface for a while though!

    Aaron Parecki
@davidmead Yeah the @ifttt channel is disappointingly limited and leads to hacks like that. I'm sure more apps will develop integrations for it soon tho. In the mean time, with the SDK it's possible to make arbitrary commands for it which is pretty neat!

@aaronpk Sweet. I talked about this with @jburrows -- I honestly believe that a voice OS evolution is going to be very important, very soon.
    Aaron Parecki
@skyler @jburrows I am very skeptical of voice interfaces in general, but for the limited set of things I've used it for, it's quite nice.

As of at least iOS 8.3, GPS works when in Airplane Mode! Let's go hiking! No more signal searching induced battery drain #iOS #CoreLocation
    Aaron Parecki
@ericito ahhh this is great! Which hardware? It used to work in airplane mode on the iPhone 4 because it was a physically separate GPS chip. With the 4S they moved to a GPS chip that was part of the GSM chip, which is why airplane mode also disabled GPS. #iOS

@kylewmahan Sweet! You should try using JWT for generating the auth codes, so that you don't need to store anything! Basically you generate a signed string with all of the data you need (user, scope, expiration, etc), and that is the auth code. That way you can get the data from the auth code without needing to look anything up in the database. Check out how my token endpoint does it:

    https://github.com/aaronpk/IndieAuth-Token-Endpoint/blob/master/controllers/controller.php#L52

    https://github.com/aaronpk/IndieAuth-Token-Endpoint/blob/master/controllers/controller.php#L100

There's more background on this concept here: http://lucumr.pocoo.org/2013/11/17/my-favorite-database/

@aaronpk What did you do to resolve? Replication?
    Aaron Parecki
@akalsey nope, moved any state needed to the wire, encrypted strings passed around by the user so that any backend server can handle it
