@veganstraightedge @jlsuttles That's ok! We haven't even fully figured out the RUD parts yet. I'm not planning on speccing it out until there's a well-defined need for it anyway. See http://indiewebcamp.com/micropub#Updating_Objects for some initial notes.

@veganstraightedge Not super formally documented yet, but here are some relevant links:

I am in the process of writing up a follow-up to the post about storing GPS logs which will cover some of the other data types too.

happy that my car insurance has gone down by $1000/year now that I'm no longer a newly-qualified driver.
    Aaron Parecki
@mattb Wow, at the peak I was paying $1500/yr total for my insurance! 'Course I was driving a 1985 Volvo :-)

@veganstraightedge syndicating to public email lists is a good way to start! Don't need to worry about privacy controls that way.

@aaronpk I'm missing something here. How does indieauth prevent anyone who knows your domain name from using it to login to a linked site?
    Aaron Parecki
@jasongreen That's the rel=me part. If you attempt to sign in as example.com, you have to authenticate with an OAuth provider that also links back to example.com. More info:

So sad that my first thought on email from great folks I’ve not heard from in years is no longer “yay” but rather “shit, they got hacked."

@shannonrosa I feel the same with Twitter DMs or Facebook messages :-/

@aaronpk Hmm ok, I will try to avoid that! Google logs location already, without an obvious drain on battery life so will try for similar.
    Aaron Parecki
@ShaneHudson You can definitely get good location data with very low battery usage, but not enough to draw super detailed maps like you see here http://aaronparecki.com/articles/2012/03/06/1/everywhere-ive-been-gps-data-portraits

@aaronpk Yeah I think that is probably the nicest way too. I was surprised how often you update though, every second?! Seems bad for battery
    Aaron Parecki
@ShaneHudson You have no idea. :-) I carry extra batteries on me all the time. It actually uses less battery than the Strava and Moves app though!

@aaronpk Just read your post about long term archiving of GPS data. I'm about to start doing very similar :) Thanks for writing it.
    Aaron Parecki
@ShaneHudson np! I've just about settled on the individual rows of GeoJSON option, but haven't yet implemented anything. I'll update that post once I do!

Hi, I'm Aaron Parecki, Director of Identity Standards at Okta, and co-founder of IndieWebCamp. I maintain oauth.net, write and consult about OAuth, and participate in the OAuth Working Group at the IETF. I also help people learn about video production and livestreaming. (detailed bio)

I've been tracking my location since 2008 and I wrote 100 songs in 100 days. I've spoken at conferences around the world about owning your data, OAuth, quantified self, and explained why R is a vowel. Read more.
