Next year I'm going to work on forming a #YxYY @xoxo collaboration. If only for the chromosomal implications.
    Aaron Parecki
@turoczy I am happy to say I will be at both. Wait, is this what being a hipster feels like? #xoxo #yxyy

@aaronpk And you are awesome! I can't wait for the day everyone does that.
    Aaron Parecki
@jaredhanson The beautiful thing about the #indieweb movement is people are focusing on building for themselves first, allowing everyone to choose what to prioritize separately from each other. See: http://indiewebcamp.com/principles

Decentralized identity is important, but not necessarily everyone's highest priority. I'd definitely like to see other explorations of that though!

@aaronpk Agreed, but I'd label your "actually using" as "exploring" relative to FB or Twitter. Ergo my comments. /cc @shawndrape @haxor

@jaredhanson I see your point, but I'm using my own site to type this and replying to you on Twitter right now #indieweb

@aaronpk +1. Anything you see that prevents exploring alternatives to DNS today? /cc @shawndrape @haxor
    Aaron Parecki
@jaredhanson Exploring? No. Actually using right now? Yes. /cc @shawndrape @haxor

@haxor I think its worth considering that we may need an alternative to DNS to fully realize IndieWeb goals. /cc @shawndrape
    Aaron Parecki
@jaredhanson @shawndrape I don't disagree, but in the mean time let's focus on what we can accomplish today. @haxor

Ha! @aaronpk might be the first person other than @dreev or I to bring up http://Messymatters.com/expectorant at dinner. See also http://messymatters.com/autonomy
    Aaron Parecki
@thatgirl Sweet! That's the one! We had a sort of dinner check fiasco tonight which ended up in some cash payments and some coffee-as-currency payments and me footing the entire bill. Here is the current state of the coffee debt graph http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7359/9234161951_c90090112d_o.png

@julien51 I agree with @lauraglu. The reason I'm not engaging is because I've never felt welcome prioritising UX in the #indieweb community.
    Aaron Parecki
@blaine I'm surprised! Most of our work has focused on UX first, protocols second. The reason for self-dogfooding is so we don't lose sight of the UX of the tools we live in everyday online. http://indiewebcamp.com/selfdogfood

@aaronpk It would allow people to log in with their email, which is more familiar than a URL: a WF look-up gives you their profile page URL.
    Aaron Parecki
@ddossot The problem is it's too easy to not own your email address (@gmail.com, etc) so it's not really an "indie" identifier. The point of IndieAuth is to encourage people to own their online identity.

@aaronpk Just realized you're behind IndieAuth: it's a great idea and well executed, congrats! I reckon adding WebFinger support is next?
    Aaron Parecki
@ddossot Thanks! What would adding Webfinger support do?

@aaronpk +1 for promoting WebFinger. Note Content-Type is text/plain for http://parecki.com/profile/aaron@parecki.com which doesn't help parsing (could be XML).
    Aaron Parecki
@ddossot ah thx, I will have to figure out how to set the content type in an .htaccess rule #webfinger

Hi, I'm Aaron Parecki, Director of Identity Standards at Okta, and co-founder of IndieWebCamp. I maintain oauth.net, write and consult about OAuth, and participate in the OAuth Working Group at the IETF. I also help people learn about video production and livestreaming. (detailed bio)

I've been tracking my location since 2008 and I wrote 100 songs in 100 days. I've spoken at conferences around the world about owning your data, OAuth, quantified self, and explained why R is a vowel. Read more.
