  • It works! I spent the morning on the final touches of replacing the guts of the iMac with an HDMI monitor. I made a mount for the monitor buttons to be accessible at the bottom of the iMac, and even hardwired the iMac power button into the monitor button controller! This is definitely not a high quality LCD panel, but it's still a lot better quality than the original one in the iMac.

  • Well that's random... the buttons on the LCD monitor controller line up perfectly with the ports from the iMac case... I think I can 3D print a mount that turns the ports into the monitor buttons!
  • I think this is going to work! I gutted an iMac G5 that had a broken display, and am swapping the display with the guts of a new 17" monitor! Gotta let the epoxy set, then I can wire it back up!

  • yeah I don't think I'm going to be able to bend this back into shape.
  • Today I spent way too long iterating on the design for this over-the-top bicycle trailer workstation cart contraption. I've got a lot of things in mind to use it for, so I think I'm going to do it. The only question is whether this will be too top-heavy and at risk of tipping. Most of the weight is at the bottom, and I'll usually be hauling a giant battery at the base too, so it might be fine. Worst case I can always just remove the top part later.
  • Long day of meetings, but I did have a kitten curled up in my lap for some of them
