welp, managed to go a whole year without a major airline snafu until my last work trip of the year. Flight from Miami to Portland was cancelled, and all the other options from Miami were bad. So I'm taking the Brightline train to Orlando and getting on a direct flight to Portland tonight! -
I'm excited that my last two trips of the year are both to beach towns in the US, which means an excellent opportunity for some drone flying! My last couple trips have been to places with too strict drone laws so I didn't bother bringing it.

Yesterday I cracked open XCode for the first time in a few years and did a marathon coding session on my GPS tracker app, Overland! I fixed a backlog of issues and added a few new features!

I spent most of the day working on Meetable, my event listing website that powers https://events.indieweb.org and a few other sites. Some great new features and bugfixes!
• Added passkeys for admin login
• "Live Now" indicator is now aware of the actual Zoom meeting status
• Zoom meeting updates if event time changes
• Added tooltip to show local time on event pages -
Now that @1Password launched passkey support *and* it's integrated into iOS 17 with the 1Password app, I feel like I can finally actually take the plunge and set up passkeys everywhere!
No more passwords! and the login UX is so much better too! -
For once, my two year old iPhone doesn't feel like it needs to be replaced any time soon. Guess I will wait to see next year's launch!

We are just a couple weeks away from closing up the walls on the new house! Are there any last minute requests I should put in for things in the walls? We already have: ethernet everywhere, 2x the required power outlets, water on the patios, intercoms...

Sadly my hopes of getting a mailbox opened notification seem to be a lost cause. The 433mhz sensor doesn't have enough power to reach the 80 feet to the street. The Zigbee one does reach that distance, but not once it's inside the mailbox.
I just found a LoRa line of home automation products, and while I'm not a fan that their Home Assistant integration is all through the cloud API, I might have to give it a shot for this anyway. -

Today I un-smarted all the lightbulbs in the apartment in preparation of moving out.
Still not quite sure what I'm going to do with all these Hue bulbs since the new house is going all hardwired. -
I can't believe I'm seriously considering getting an analog video door intercom over a digital one. I just don't like the idea of the system running an outdated version of the Android OS.
