important question: should I register a $25/yr joke domain to use as examples in slides for a talk?

of course the domain will redirect to the slides from the talk

    Dear @AlaskaAir gate agents,

Please always prefix your boarding announcements with the flight number and destination.

Otherwise your announcement that's broadcast over several gates causes complete panic when people think their group number has already boarded.

So uh, I scheduled a Lyft for the morning, but there's no trace of any indication in the app that I did that. Did it work? Are they going to show up? What time did i set that for?

This is great news for podcaster creators! Now podcasters have an easy way to let listeners support the podcast financially! Thanks for taking the lead on this @marcoarment, I hope other podcast apps follow suit! https://twitter.com/marcoarment/status/1028451747734409216

XRay, the library that I use to parse URLs to show comments, now supports parsing direct Microformats JSON, ActivityStreams 2.0, as well as finding a rel=alternate link and parsing data from that instead!

This means I now get great results when parsing Mastodon or other ActivityPub links, and this is also the first step in what I hope will result in fixing the Microformats situation for WordPress, since a WordPress plugin will be able to generate Microformats JSON and advertise that in a rel=alternate link.

Next up is updating Aperture to take advantage of these new features!

I think I need to nuke my autocorrect database. It keeps changing "can" to "can't" and "have" to "haven't" and it makes some conversations reeeally awkward.

Seriously why is accessing XML namespaced tags so difficult? I tried parsing this podcast feed with 3 different libraries and they all failed to take into account the itunes: namespaced properties and didn't give me a way to fall back to access the elements directly. 🙅

Started using the last digit of my restaurant bill as a checksum, cause I've had the tip amount changed on me too many times now

Decide your rough desired tip, calculate your tentative total, then add up the digits before the decimal point and use that as the number of cents
