That's *literally the opposite of best practice* for online account security. Doing this discourages users from setting up secure, randomized passwords - and encourages them to hold on to the same password for too long. The safest passwords are randomized, from a password manager

Outstanding post by @mikeindustries about Superhuman's extraordinarily creepy email tracking, which invisibly logs every time you open an email from one of their users and your physical location. https://mikeindustries.com/blog/archive/2019/06/superhuman-is-spying-on-you

Omg I just realized something great about IndieWeb protocols: it is WAY WAY EASIER to build a generative bot using feeds and optional WebSub

In effect the various RSS-generating apps I’ve made ARE bots as far as IndieWeb cares

    How cool is that?!

Thank you to the #IndieWeb community for a thoughtful, collaborative, nerdy, inspiring weekend, for letting me explore #indiewebfutures with you, and for the value you see and care you put in to making the independent, decentralized, distributed, owned-by-us web open to everyone (even those with zip experience like me!). 📸 @andipandicandy

Join me in never using grubhub ever again:

    https://newfoodeconomy.org/grubhub-domain-purchases-thousands-shadow-sites/

Basic gist: they set up competing websites sites for small restaurants without telling them. Any calls/orders routed through those sites meant a larger percentage commission for Grubhub.

Then when caught they immediately jump to "we're totally not cybersquatting".

Small businesses do not have the resources or time to compete with a full VC-backed marketing staff of SEO gurus.

I had a great time at the IndieWeb Summit in Portland this weekend. Thanks to Aaron, Tantek, and Tiara for organizing a fantastic conference. For the Sunday “hack day”, I (1) enriched this site with microformats and (2) added support for both inbound and outbound webmentions. I came very close to adding full micropub support via the IndieKit OSS project but, alas, I discovered a couple blocking bugs along the way. Perhaps I’ll have a chance to issue a pull request soon…
