  • Meetable: An Open Source Events Aggregator

It's been a few weeks since I launched the new events site for IndieWeb events! In that time, the community has already hosted 7 events, and scheduled 15 more! I've continued to push a few minor changes to the site since the launch, primarily around discovery of events with tags.

How do I make sure that anything on my personal account gets copied as an "out of office" to my work accounts for coworkers to see? I need to make sure that people don't book meetings when I'm out of office.
    Aaron Parecki
I don't have a *good* solution for this, but I usually do a combination of:

inviting my work account from my personal calendar

manually adding an event called "Busy" to my work calendar

I have 7 different google calendars I need to consult across three different google apps accounts. How do I schedule things this without double booking myself or a studio? TEACH ME YOUR TRICKS!
    Aaron Parecki
share them all with your personal Google account

    or

add them all to your iPhone and make that the only place you look

Pretty excited to have all these enquiries about guest posting on my website. I feel famous!
    Aaron Parecki
I've had a wave of them too recently, it's getting a little out of hand.

My Dream has happened! I just received my new office space for Kinotika this week! Converting an entire apartment to my YouTube studio and guest house. Can’t wait to build it out. Best part is it’s directly upstairs from my personal apartment... WiFi even reaches up here!
    Aaron Parecki
This is so great! It's gonna be real nice having all that space!

    Is it safe sometimes?!

    Aaron Parecki
Nope, it's a trap! But it's also how most banking APIs work in the US 😭

I mean the one-time codes you get via SMS that include a message like "don't give this code to anyone"

Okay, I just got off the phone with a tech recruiter and I have some pretty deep frustrations with how this went on many axes. Tech recruiters, please read this thread - especially if you're in a "diversity & inclusion" team.

Writing 100 lines of code in an hour isn't a useful skill to test for. The best solutions often involve writing only a small amount of code to clue existing, good code together in a useful way. Understanding how stuff works and being able to tie things together is way more useful

I'm at the point of my life where I hoard security keys to give away to anyone I know/meet who needs to lock down their online accounts, and plushies + storybooks as gifts for friends who have children. No regrets.

The confusing part about online security is knowing *when* it's safe to give your SMS two-factor auth codes to a third party.
