there are some apps that take night movements of the watch and write them to the Health app as sleep tracking. They’re not at the level of the Fitbit, though. 😞
    Aaron Parecki
Yea, I'm not interested in half-baked solutions for a $399 device. At that price it better be able to do at least what a $99 FitBit can do.

welp, the rumors were true, Google did in fact buy FitBit: https://www.theverge.com/2019/11/1/20943318/google-fitbit-acquisition-fitness-tracker-announcement

I *want* to switch to an Apple watch, but I can't until it has built-in automatic sleep tracking like the FitBit does!

Is it much easier for non-static sites? Is there a "webmentions in a box" WP plugin?
    Aaron Parecki
and I use webmention.io myself, but I use the webhook feature so that it pushes the webmentions to my website immediately, where I can then store the data in my website's storage. That's one of the reasons the client-side JS examples there don't include any rendered HTML.

    Aaron Parecki
    Yep! https://wordpress.org/plugins/webmention/

It's completely self-contained, no external services, and integrates with the native WordPress comments system.

I was *just* about to come back around and thank you and Remy for building these servies for starters. So thank you!

Yes, this is a partial failure of static sites but it still just feels like an over-engineered solution. I know lots of bloggers and so few of them use webmention
    Aaron Parecki
There's definitely room for someone to come in and build a better solution tailored to all the specific limitations of static sites! What you're seeing is the side effect of these solutions not having been built specifically with static sites in mind.

    - Set up IFTTT for RSS -> http://webmention.app to send webmentions

Fin? Maybe? I count 4 different web-apps necessary *and* two different code markups needed to get this all working correctly.

    Webmentions is a failed system.
    Aaron Parecki
Not sure I understand why this is "failed"?

I'm guessing you are using a static site generator. That's going to give you lots of problems trying to do anything dynamic, kind of by definition.

So if my laptop starts rendering files in an acceptable way and I don't need to buy a new one...

That means maybe a new camera is still on the table for the channel funds that still need spent this year.

    I'm just saying 🤷‍♂️
    Aaron Parecki
"funds that needs spent" 😂 I know that tune. That sounds like someone who has a well-paying full-time job doing something other than making YouTube videos.

I seem to have found myself in #Memphis at sunset. Was a nice surprise being able to walk around with all the streets blocked off tonight. #BealeStreet
