welp, the rumors were true, Google did in fact buy FitBit: https://www.theverge.com/2019/11/1/20943318/google-fitbit-acquisition-fitness-tracker-announcement

I *want* to switch to an Apple watch, but I can't until it has built-in automatic sleep tracking like the FitBit does!

My experience is that both autosleep and sleep watch apps are better sleep trackers than Fitbit.

I’ve been using Sleep++ for automatic sleep tracking and is pretty amazing. apps.apple.com/mx/app/sleep/i… (ramiroruiz.com/replies/19/110…)

I never tried to do sleep tracking with my Apple Watch, because the night is the time I need to charge it. I use "Sleep Better" on my iPhone. But even if that would work, you still wouldn't get the data out of the health app. -Or did I miss something?

@aaronpk If that's your only criteria, then sure, but seems a small compromise, all things considered :)

@aaronpk Gotcha, yea, it would be nice to have that as a first party feature.

@aaronpk I use AutoSleep and it detects sleep/wake times and gives a good amount of data on the sleep. Perhaps you've already considered that.

Yea, I'm not interested in half-baked solutions for a $399 device. At that price it better be able to do at least what a $99 FitBit can do.

there are some apps that take night movements of the watch and write them to the Health app as sleep tracking. They’re not at the level of the Fitbit, though. 😞
