@aaronpk i mean, its an extra step for no reason. If a service is going to steal your password, i can think of 100s of ways to do it
    Aaron Parecki
@oscargodson I agree oAuth is complicated from the server side, but it's relatively smooth from the user's perspective.

@oscargodson The point is to train users *not* to enter their password on 3rd party sites, in favor of using oAuth at the provider.

I get the whole being scared of your password being taken away, but I trust Twitter, Google, etc. I dont give a shit entering my pass 2 them
    Aaron Parecki
@oscargodson It's not about giving your password to Twitter/Google, it's about giving your Twitter/Google password to third parties.

Hi, I'm Aaron Parecki, Director of Identity Standards at Okta, and co-founder of IndieWebCamp. I maintain oauth.net, write and consult about OAuth, and participate in the OAuth Working Group at the IETF. I also help people learn about video production and livestreaming. (detailed bio)

I've been tracking my location since 2008 and I wrote 100 songs in 100 days. I've spoken at conferences around the world about owning your data, OAuth, quantified self, and explained why R is a vowel. Read more.
