I was just woken up by a big POP of a transformer and all the power out. You could ice skate across my lawn and there’s a good 3/4” of ice on the branches outside 🥶

I think you misspelled scamcoin! Considering it is all a ponzi scheme: create from thin air, convince others to buy, let them convince others to buy, repeat like a pyramid and the first who enters and exits, wins, rest need to keep on convincing otherwise they won’t profit….

I think you will find the Bitcoin fanboys are more than willing to debate/discuss with anyone who has some valid criticism of Bitcoin.
I'm sure there are some completely reasonable people willing to discuss it. However those are not the people in my mentions right now 🙄 -
the power went out at 6am with no indication of when it'll be back, so I hand ground some coffee beans and will now find out if you can make french press coffee with hot tap water

At this point I just instablock anyone who shows up in my mentions with the name of any coin or crypto* in their profile. If they self-ID with it then nothing good happens.

I think this is the move. Luke warm water to make coffee is usually quite disappointing mud water.
My theory was the lukewarm water would make the cold press process go faster..?
Also I don't wanna wait 12 hours for my first coffee of the day 😭 -

Oh the *depths* to which we have sunk!I mean you could always chew on coffee beans with cold tap water, hoping your body heat will be sufficient to warm it up... 😱
You know... chocolate covered coffee beans are a thing, so maybe resorting to eating plain coffee beans isn't the worst idea -

It honestly feels like an important step towards saving the planet is to either carry out a successful 51% attack against Bitcoin or work some kind of cryptographic flaw into Bitcoin core and break the whole thing that way
Look y'all in the mentions down there, if this is how you react to a couple jokes about bitcoin, you might want to take a moment of self-reflection to get to the bottom of your underlying insecurities. This is not a healthy response and I am concerned for you.

The bot searches my replies and blocks accounts with "bitcoin", "hodl" and similar words in the bio 😀

I don't really understand why people are talking about Clubhouse at all. Has their use case not already been long solved by Teamspeak, Mumble, Discord, Zoom, Skype, Jitsi and so on?
The voice technology itself isn’t a challenge. The social features are where they are innovating (discovery, being able to listen as well as participate in calls, etc) -
It’s nothing particularly unique itself, but it’s not something that’s been done on voice platforms before. It’s like overlaying a social network on top of conference calls.

@aaronpk @Gargron I think Aaron's point is key - it's layering a social network on top of audio, giving a richer experience than just text, but not as heavy an experience as video (in a time when we're all sick of endless zoom calls).
Ben Thompson had an interesting piece on his Stratechery site about the rise of Clubhouse and others in "social audio": https://stratechery.com/2021/clubhouses-inevitability/
His main point being that these tools are making it even easier to discover, listen, and participate.
