Seriously considering deleting facebook, personal and business. Twitter works just fine. Thoughts?
    Aaron Parecki
I would recommend tombstoning instead of deleting, just to make sure nobody else can make an account with your name. Delete all the posts, disable tagging, etc, leave a single post up that says where to find you elsewhere.

What’s the benefit of using Cloudflare if it throws up a "checking your browser" screen for 5 seconds before you can visit the site? Doesn’t matter how fast the site loads on an edge CDN if you are losing visitors to that.

We've officially changed "Blacklist" to "Blocklist" and "Whitelist" to "Allowlist" @ConvertKit. Blacklist and Whitelist are email industry-standard terms that need to change. I hope others will do the same.

If you see the terms anywhere on site/app/KB, @ me so we can update.

You’re right. That hit home. And to the original point, change of product terminology is a minor thing in itself. I think it’s the concern about setting precedents - you have to then apply same logic to everything.
    Aaron Parecki
Yes, we should remove racist and other problematic terminology from everything. It's mind boggling how many different industries terms like these have been embedded in for so long.

@aaronpk Hi Aaron! How do we sign up to volunteer for @indiewebcamp ? Not sure if the webchat stream is the best place...
    Aaron Parecki
Hi! Yep chat is the best, that's where we all hang out and coordinate this stuff! The web chat is kinda awkward, but you can join from Slack or IRC or Matrix as well! https://indieweb.org/discuss

I want to make a site called Amazoff where you type in anything you would normally buy off Amazon but instead it serves up independent local businesses in your area that sell the same or similar products.

Want: For every ounce of water I drink, I want to move $1 into an account. At the end of the day, the difference from my goal should be subtracted from the account (making it necessary for me to be consistent, lol). I’ll never be able to make up for that lost water.

@aaronpk Is this a common occurrence? I don't keep track of the goings on with Facebook since deleting my profile many years ago, so just curious if there are examples of this happening to anyone.

    Aaron Parecki
It's happened to people I know. There's also a variation where someone makes up a fake person and starts friending people from the same high school or college to get into a network.

A note to media folks: If your newspaper or outlet is no longer covering the *enormous* BLM protests because they're peaceful now, question why the news business fetishizes blood and violence and ignores racial justice movements otherwise.

I'm gonna start using "corona" as a unit of measurement. Who's with me?

"I was at the grocery store and this guy came within one corona of me!"

"The protests stretched for like 200 coronas!"

Remember when “sellout” referred to someone who went against their core values to advertise something they don’t believe in? If the product you’re spruiking is relevant to your brand and community, you’re not selling out. Go make bank. Just do it ethically.
