Hi, Aaron! I tried it and I'm getting this response on the site now: "Your account is currently being checked every 24 hours. Your account was last checked 6 days ago and will be checked again in just now."
That's good! It was probably confused because of the Instagram failures. You should hopefully see some photos appear soon! -
This is exactly why I'm bullish on the idea of separating the subscriptions and feed parsing from the interface that you use to browse them! Every RSS reader shouldn't have to also build their own syncing backend!

oh gosh I could never do that. That's why I edit mine so heavily before I publish! I edit out partial words and gaps of silence and other stuff I can't stand. That's also why I can only manage to publish 3-4 minutes at a time!

@aaronpk Well most of the plug-and-play ones in the App Store don't; they build compatibility with whatever hip new web service has come out recently, and if it has special features, they add settings. I'm pretty into the idea of a local client that can sync its entire state.
We've gotta get more apps on board with Microsub! It's like an RSS reader syncing service except you own the service, and you can also reply to things directly from it! -

@aaronpk Yeah, I love what you're building there. My main problem with fully participating in the indie world is that my website is incredibly not-indie. I have given myself over to a certain prolific podcast advertiser for that. It's hard to resist.
wait what does podcast advertising have to do with your website not being indie? I see you have your own domain name, and one for your podcast! That's how it starts! -

@aaronpk Sorry, I was euphemistically referring to Squarespace, because they advertise on every podcast, and I was ashamed to name them. I have gone the "let me pay you to take care of this for me" route.
Doesn't matter where you host your website as long as you have your own domain name! I didn't even realize your website was hosted there! And if you want, you can change where it's hosted and I wouldn't have to do anything different to access it. -

@aaronpk Oh yeah, Squarespace has all the Legos a basic grown-up's website needs, but I can't, say, extend it to publish to or from some API. It's the from part that's particularly impossible. There's no way for me to get stuff into my site other than Squarespace's way.
Oh also, if you can add a bit of custom html to your website then you too can use a Microsub reader like mine! -
