Good news: Automakers are finally realizing that car touchscreens are a disaster.

Drivers hate them, and they're also dangerously distracting. Buttons and knobs are poised for a comeback.

Why do stopped escalators feel so different from stairs?
    Aaron Parecki
I'm pretty sure stopped escalators aren't actually stopped, they are moving very slowly in reverse

Someone asked me recently, what is one quality that is career limiting that many people don't realize is career limiting?

My answer? Being unable to deal with ambiguity. The more senior you get, the more there are is no right answer or plan figured out. That's your job.

Anyone have opinions about where to place outdoor faucets on a house? I'm realizing I haven't had outdoor space in so long that I don't have any recent frustrations with outdoor hoses to draw from!

    Is the answer just, "everywhere"?

domain names are like $8/year and you have a lot more control over your own website.

spending that PER MONTH for an account on a dying app that can disappear any moment is a rip-off

I'm mostly here because there's never been a time when someone spent billions of dollars to not listen to everyone and pick a fight with an entire service they own by degrading service and constantly changing features. Kendall Roy is breaking down in real time, but it's real life

I discovered a type of vehicle mania I like. My piece this week is about the growing number of Americans importing 25 year old tiny Japanese "Kei" pickup trucks to do actual pickup truck work, for much less than a giant luxury American pickup costs:
