I learned a ton about Remote ID at the #IETF114 meeting in Philadelphia last week, and distilled it into this video about why this is the worst time to buy a drone!

You would think that in 2022, security vendors would know better than to cold call security professionals on their personal numbers to try to sell them services. But… they don’t. 🫠 if you don’t respect my privacy, why would I trust you with my customers’ privacy?

omg yes I have been getting so many of these. I apparently made the mistake of putting in my phone number when I registered for some conference recently and the cold calls I get now are out of control.

  • Don't buy a drone in 2022 before watching this video! 😱 REMOTE ID is coming!

The first prototype of DRIP, the Drone Remote ID Protocol is here! What does this mean for you as a drone operator? I interviewed the folks working on Remote ID protocols at the IETF meeting in Philadelphia to learn more.

I had a very productive week at #ietf114! Got a ton of things done esp. in #OAuth WG - SD-JWT went to call for adoption, security BCP advanced, and @__b_c pushed DPoP forward. Looking forward to London in November!

No it ain’t. Universally, “100” has long been a round number used to convey there being an abundance of something. “40” has never been that. 40 Celsius means something to you, because you grew with that. To people who didn’t, it’s not a big enough number to signify anything.

They had this idea that talking publicly about security problems (in locks) is without value, dangerous, and inherently suspicious, and should be reserved for “official” members of their trade. I don’t agree with them about this.

I just learned that there's a coven of locksmiths STILL mad at me because of this paper I published twenty years ago. So let me repost it here.

I remember a story about a person who had an absurd log file to parse, and it was too large to look at with any reasonable method, so they turned it into an audio file and listened to it. When the pattern changed dramatically, they went right to the distinct area.

I’ve read here and there about how autistic people aren’t able to recognise social hierarchies. Obviously I can’t speak for everyone, but in my experience it’s not that I haven’t been able to recognise them, it’s that I don’t respect them and I don’t care 🙃

So apparently the TSB banking app is failing, and users are being presented with an error message “Not enough good slaves” - which, to non-technical users, is unexpected.

I do feel that the move a few years ago to remove master/slave terminology from computing was the right one.
