  • 🔴 LIVE 🚲 YoloBox on a BIKE! 🚲 Livestreaming the Portland Pedalpalooza kickoff ride IRL!

Tonight is the kickoff ride for Portland's summer-long bike festival, and I've strapped the YoloBox Pro to my bike to livestream the whole ride! We'll be biking from Laurelhurst park up to the Fields park in NW. I've got a GoPro out front and on the back of my bike, and also my Sony camera with a wireless transmitter!

I mis-clicked on one of my 150 open tabs and it happened to be a tab that's been open since 2019 with a paper that has a solution to the exact research problem I've been puzzling over today. This is the moment I've been waiting for and I've decided to never close any tabs again

Portland's council just unanimously approved new updates to its low-density zoning code, a fast follow-up on 2020's landmark vote to re-legalize 4plexes & mixed-income 6plexes citywide.

We didn't get everything right the first time around!

This project makes 6 great changes:

    Crypto is 13 years old.

13 years into the web, 59% of Americans used it.

13 years after the iPhone, 81% of American had a smart phone.

13 years into crypto, and nobody uses it beyond speculation and ransomware.

I'm officially an old hater when it comes to frontend. Everything is slower by default. Nothing is actually easier than it was before. Things are still buggy af despite all the linting and type systems and build steps. And it's not even fun anymore. Sorry not sorry.

Parts of the crypto ecosystem are shaping up to be an extension of the current broken financial system it was aiming to replace, without the safe guards, and lets be honest, most of those regulations only limit how much harm can be done to you.

Web3 so far feels like people who only know Web2 trying to build Web1 from scratch. I truly feel we'd benefit if more Web3 folks researched existing decentralized projects: IndieWeb, IndieAuth, RSS, ActivityPub, Federated web, etc. We should be using these existing tools imo.
