Idk when Americans will understand that they only cut jobs so the owners/investors will keep making the same amount of money, not because they CAN’T afford to pay people more. They just don’t want to take a pay cut. It has nothing to do with saving jobs.

More seriously. For all the technologies that are no longer in use, how do you pick the date of their demise on the timeline?
In some cases, there are still production systems using them- wstrust, fed being examples. I doubt that’s true of openid, but where do you draw the line?
    Aaron Parecki
There are still a few OpenID 1 providers and consumers left! I run a provider and am still surprised that it gets traffic.

1/ In light of the voting question that will never die -- "if I can do X online, why can't I vote online" -- I'm reminded that most people don't have a good intuition for what makes things secure. So let's explore.

Security online depends predominantly on logging and auditing.

Imagine a Trump™️ branded vaccine... what a shitshow that’d be. Like Trump Steaks™️, but for COVID immunity. Yes, this is one of the dumbest things I can imagine, but it still kind of feels within-the-realm-of-possible, no?

I fully expect him to release a Trump branded vaccine in the fall. It won't be effective but that's not important to him. It's all about being able to say he did it in less than a year in the run up to the election.

#226 Make IndieAuth Plugin a Dependency to Use This Plugin

    Aaron Parecki
To clarify, the idea is to simplify this plugin by making it rely on the IndieAuth plugin for access token generation and verification? Essentially this plugin would assume the IndieAuth plugin exists and use it to verify access tokens in the requests?

if the IndieAuth plugin has the ability to then rely on remote endpoints like indieauth.com (although I still don't understand why you'd want to do that), this plugin wouldn't even see the difference right? Assuming this plugin asks the IndieAuth plugin to verify access tokens, it's up to the IndieAuth plugin to decide how to verify them whether that's it checking the local database or asking a remote token endpoint.

That seems like the best of both worlds and would simplify this plugin a lot.

I would also like to emphasize that my personal interest in this is getting more people to install the IndieAuth plugin instead of relying on indieauth.com. It's easier to tell someone to install two plugins than it is to tell them how to set up rel=me links on their home page in order to use IndieAuth.com. Also I am planning on eventually shutting that service down.
