burnout culture is finding new hobby in an attempt at self-care then trying to figure out how to monetize that hobby so that it, maybe, will pay your way out of burnout culture

Twitter plz help. Someone took a GIF of Leslie Neilson fighting people in an airport and labeled the people with stuff like "subscribe to our newsletter" and "review our cookie policy" and it was the best thing ever and I can't find it again.

I remember this gif but I have no way of finding it again lol!

It’s worth remembering that, at the time that the Internet Protocol was being designed in the 70s, countless competing standards (like ATM and XNS) that had more features (but were thus less modular and evolvable) ultimately lost against IP’s minimalism.

IP has thus come to be known as the "Narrow Waist of the Internet". It is the single protocol through which all traffic flows. Its most obvious advantage is that it decouples the application layer from the hardware layer so that each may evolve independently.

Ok, I'd like to have one of those stickers :-) - hope to see you at Oktane.

Quick question, what has been updated in the Feb 2020 version of the Oauth 2.0 book? Is it worth getting over the 2017 version I have? Thanks
    Aaron Parecki
It's mostly the same content, fixed typos and things, and I brought it up to date with the latest security recommendations from the OAuth group. If you're at Oktane stop by the developer hub and I'll give you a copy!

I wouldn’t want to be in the photo software business.

Offer a subscription? Folks are pissed.

Offer paid upgrades? Folks are pissed.

I guess the photographers who want free software must be the same ones who work for exposure.

I'm no expert in thermodynamics, but I'm pretty sure a freezer is supposed to blow *cold* air into the freezer compartment, not warm air.

Thankfully the property manager was able to swap out our fridge this morning.

Last year’s edition was the most productive protocol event in YEARS. If you work in this space and want to have high bandwidth conversations with some of the smartest people in the industry, Trondheim is the place to be next July :)

Yes! Cultivate a talent THEN film it. Big YouTubers have something to say & usually talented in something: filmmaking, skating, slime, singing, instruments, storytelling, gaming, teaching ETC ETC
I love kids want to make money being creative. Not easy but worth aspiring towards!

Today's construction progress: Cut out and installed the two windows, and insulated the exterior wall! It's already a lot warmer and quieter inside! The windows are just to let some light in, there's no view of the sunrise or anything, just a nice brick wall across the alley.

Has anyone experimented with floor-to-ceiling monitors (or anything similar) so your computing environment expands to fill the space around you?

I want ambient access to my calendar, roadmap, todos, etc. Instead of minimizing a tab, I want to be able to throw it on the wall
    Aaron Parecki
I want this too, but every time I use a computer with even just two external monitors attached I cry a little inside because they really just can't handle it right now.
