@aaronpk oh interesting. What is your storage and reheating process?

    Aaron Parecki
Vacuum sealed bags in the freezer. Then air fry at 375 for 7 minutes to reheat! I cut the bags longer than they need to be so I can reuse them several times too.

@aaronpk completely! I actually started making my own yogurt, which is cheaper and tastes better and never seems to go bad. I’m all for knowing what is going into my food.

    Aaron Parecki
ooo I'm glad you've cracked that! I'm still scared of making fermented things, I'm always worried I'm going to do it wrong and then get very sick!

@aaronpk Ok got it. So what did you spend, ballpark, to replace your Philips Hue bulbs with the Caseta switches?

    Aaron Parecki
šŸ‘€ depends on how you count. I decided to put in Caseta switches in the 2 new rental units as well as our new unit, so adding the current smaller loft we live in was not a huge amount on top of all that.

@aaronpk Would you take 250 for the lot?

    Aaron Parecki
I was originally thinking $300 for the lot, but if you cover shipping I'll take 250!

@aaronpk Yeah I might be interested. Floods especially I could use more of, and I think the strips could be fun to scatter about. With the standard/floods, are we talking color, ambiance, or just dimmers?

    Aaron Parecki
I have 6 floods, 4 old style and 2 new style, all are white+RGB. The two strips I have are very old and may not be 100% on all the LEDs so I'll throw those in for free.

@aaronpk were you not a fan of the Hue switches?

    Aaron Parecki
They started getting really flaky for me lately, only registering every 4th button press. Plus I never used the middle dimmer buttons, I only wanted them for on/off, and the scene selection modes were super complicated. Really I just want a paddle switch with on/off, and that's exactly what the Caseta Pico remote does!

@aaronpk Aha thanks, so the Caseta switches operate over existing light switches mechanically, that's why 'no wires needed'. Will check them out.

    Aaron Parecki
There's actually a special "pico" remote that talks wirelessly to any of the wired switches so you can add a switch anywhere on the wall without having planned a wire ahead of time too! But you need to replace the physical switches with Caseta switches first.

@aaronpk I mean, what have you got?

    Aaron Parecki
Many many standard bulbs, several flood bulbs, a few of the old gen light strips and flood lights, a couple switches, two hubs.

@aaronpk The Caseta switch connects to a Caseta light bulb(s)?

    Aaron Parecki
The Caseta switches replace your normal wall switches and can control whatever lights are at the other end. The great thing is you can completely forget they are smart switches and they behave just like normal switches that way

    Goodbye Philips Hue šŸ‘‹

I finally finished replacing all my Hue lights with Caseta switches.

While I will miss the color temperature control, I am excited that I can attach a switch anywhere that works and looks just like a normal switch, no wires needed!

@aaronpk I did this a few weeks ago too. I don't know why it took me so long to figure out that commercially made waffles are just waffles that are frozen. No secret to it. These look great!

    Aaron Parecki
haha right? I've been batch cooking and preserving a lot of things lately and it's given me a different perspective on commercial food production. Like yeah someone cooked that and then froze it and kept it frozen until it made it to your freezer.

Just made eight weeks of waffles, going into the freezer now. Took almost 2 hours to cook the 8 batches. I should really get a second waffle iron cause it would literally halve the amount of time this takes.
    Aaron Parecki
Oops, eight days, not weeks. We only have them on weekends so that's four weeks of waffles. In that case I definitely need to speed this up if I'm going to be doing it every month.

Now it comes back empty and HTTP/2 500 instead of as a 404. I guess that's a tiny step forward.

@aaronpk knowing there's no meters makes sense, 100 percent. How much power did lights ONLY draw? Did the battery discharge really quickly or was it a usable amount for lights only?

    Aaron Parecki
all the lights draw under 1 amp total! The battery said it could run for 7 more hours

@aaronpk I dare say as viewing devices, maybe obsolete. But as a technology, less so. Tubes are still manufactured and used for things like x-ray machines and nuclear weapon triggers.

    Aaron Parecki
Well now I have to go look up how those triggers work
