Yeah I have an M1 Pro for work and it’s really great but I’d like to save the $800 for my personal 😅
    Aaron Parecki
I've been editing all my videos on my M1 Air and it's just fine. I'm sure it's not as fast as the M1 Pro but I don't have any complaints. I use Resolve, so I can't speak to the performance for other video editors.

@aaronpk I’ve never looked into it and I’ve never flown to/from Japan, but how would shipping costs compare to checked bag fees?

    Aaron Parecki
I get two free checked bags with my airline status so shipping would be infinitely more expensive 😇

This trip is doing a good job of reminding me why I don't check bags. 40 minutes waiting for bags at PDX, and the Lyft pickup went from 1 minute away to 15 minutes away 😭
    Aaron Parecki
The reason I checked bags on this flight was because I bought a bunch of clothes in Japan because I am small and clothes there actually fit me 😅

SafeBase64 protects against path traversal or path manipulation where urlencoding and normal Base64 do not!
    Aaron Parecki
Ultimately the question is where does the untrusted data come from and how is it used, because URL-safe-base64-encoding a "../" will just decode to "../" on the other side.

This is about to get a lot worse tomorrow when all the legacy blue checkmarks disappear and Twitter is left with only paid blue checks. The scammers will undoubtedly pay for some verified checks to gain more legitimacy.

How do you safely do this?

    HTTPS://site.com/data/ + protect(untrusted);

URL encoding is not the answer, it still allows path traversal. Base64 encoding is not the answer, the + and / characters, legal in base64, can skew a URL.
    Aaron Parecki
what kind of protection? A JWT could work there, it uses only URL safe characters, and is integrity protected. If you don't need integrity protection then just URL safe Base64 I guess

My latest video. How long roughly do you think to record, edit and deliver?

Either how long would it take you, or how long do you think it took me. Either or.

Just curious to know if I'm actually efficient or not (I think I am 😆)

@aaronpk a Freudian slip that puts sparkling wine in the feminine category?

But also wtf @AmericanAir what's the point in buying a Premium Economy ticket if you don't serve bubbly, and also ran out of the IPA that's on the menu before the plane even took off

very whining on the yacht problem I know, but it's been a long day and it's going to be another long day before I actually get home

I've always thought I present pretty clearly as cisgender male, but this flight attendant just told me "no ma'am" when I asked if they had any sparkling wine on board 🤷‍♂️

Remember when "web 2.0" spawned a series of life/activity tracker apps that aggregated all of your online activity? Tweets, checkins, blog posts, music you're listening to, etc all colocated in a stream.

I...want that again. Does anyone know if things like that still exist?
    Aaron Parecki
I don't think the business models of those ever panned out. Plus several platforms (ahem Instagram, and now Twitter as well) have been getting more hostile about allowing any data export.

The most time-consuming part of any development work I do is inevitably the research

Need to implement OAuth 2 for something? I'll spend WAY more time researching the details of what that involves than actually writing the code for it

ChatGPT... does 80% of that research for me
    Aaron Parecki
I hope it's better now, but a while ago I was asking it OAuth questions and it was hallucinating all sorts of ridiculous things about it.

There’s this service called “Block the Blue” that just automatically blocks people who pay for Twitter Blue. !’m considering using it. Does anyone know if there’s a way to see if anyone you follow is a Blue subscriber?
