How do I explain how hard it is to maintain the same level of communication skills in three languages that are drastically different - English, Japanese and Russian.

It's not just knowing words, it's also knowing nuances in which situation and how to use them.
    Aaron Parecki
I completely understand, but also you also speak Russian?? I had no idea ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

@aaronpk Is this course a break down of your book, or contains additional/different content?

    Aaron Parecki
Totally new content than what's in the book! The book content is closer to what's in the first video course, The Nuts & Bolts of OAuth

@aaronpk @oh_that_courtney -- just make sure you check the ChatGPT answers to confirm that while sounding plausible, they are in fact not correct.

You wouldn't want to be embarrassed to find out that there were more correct answers on the test than you thought you had.

    Aaron Parecki
haha yes absolutely. So far I don't think I've used 100% of any of the generated answers, but it's definitely a good starting point!

@aaronpk Iโ€™m curious if the choicrs follow the pattern of 4-choice tests Iโ€™ve seen: one highly improbable, slightly amusing answer, one obviously wrong if youโ€™re paying attention, one almost correct?

    Aaron Parecki
hmm no not really. It kind of pulls out various phrases from the text and rearranges them in a random order.

I had a feeling ChatGPT might be a good application for this... I just uploaded a transcript from one of my course videos and asked it to create multiple choice questions based on the content. It did a surprisingly good job, and only requires minor editing to get the questions to make sense! This is going to save me a lot of time!
    Aaron Parecki
One of the parts of writing multiple choice questions I find particularly challenging is coming up with wrong answers that sound slightly realistic. The good news is ChatGPT is great at that!

Nice! Have you used their API to incorporate sales from your own site/domain?
    Aaron Parecki
I haven't done that directly but I did hook it up to Shopify, which is like the no-code version of that. https://shop.aaronpk.tv

Any recommendations on tools/platforms for drop-ship swag?

I'm looking to build a Swag store for the #LearnBuildTeach community.

@aaronpk Brilliant, this is almost like reading the debate between Elon Musk and the Site Engineers at Twitter over how it all works.

    Aaron Parecki
haha that sounds like an excellent question to ask from the next version of ChatGPT once it's been trained on 2022 events

The time for an easily self-hosted personal CMS, designed around the Fediverse and IndieWeb is now.

No, I donโ€™t mean hacking it into a legacy CMS like WordPress. It needs to be modern, and completely focused.

(The CMS I use, Known, had the right idea, about 5 years too early).
    Aaron Parecki
This has been on my todo list for -- checks notes -- literally 8 years.

My website is essentially the prototype for it, but it is in no way accessible to folks, both from the server admin side or the user experience side. I have a long list of what I want to improve, but sadly never took the time to do it.

Oh man, #airdrop is the thing I miss most since leaving the #iPhone behind. My #MacBook feels a little less capable without it, haha. Snapdrop.net has been pretty handy, except for it requiring a shared wifi network.

    Aaron Parecki
airdrop is great when it works. It does sometimes completely just fail, and there's no real way to troubleshoot it or force it to reconnect or whatever.

I understand that people keep saying #DieHard is the true Christmas movie. Having seen it for the first time on a transcontinental flight last month I can honestly say that there is a taste shortage going around.

    Aaron Parecki
lol we tried watching it for the first time last year and got through 20 minutes and gave up ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I clicked โ€œnot interested in this adโ€ for perhaps 5 times already, and every time I open Twitter I see it again.
I really am not the target audience for that service, whatโ€™s the point? Was this a ploy to get me to retweet/amplify this? It worked ๐Ÿ˜›

@aaronpk it's probably doable with AppleScript, but I haven't used AppleScript in probably 20 years to know for sure

@aaronpk I imagine having a "scaffolded" structure generated automatically and just double checking it is way less work than having to write it down all by yourself ๐Ÿ‘

    Aaron Parecki
Yeah it definitely took a little bit of copy editing to get the summaries right, but it's a lot quicker than doing it all from scratch. Plus I want captions for the videos anyway so I am also using the result of that middle step!

WV temps swing wildly in a normal year, but the shift last night was especially crazy: from 45 degrees to -2 in about 6-7 hours. And itโ€™ll be in the sixties again next week ๐Ÿ™ƒ
