Monday around 1pm Pacific I’ll go live while editing. I think this will work; sharing my 6K retina screen over a 4K stream so you should be able to see perfect detail. Potentially there will be commentary from the peanut gallery. Sub now so you don’t miss

The old school machinist in me feels a little bit of joy every time I add a feature to a resin-printable design that would be impossible to produce on a mill or lathe.

    Aaron Parecki
I'm gonna have to experiment with resin printing next. So far I've been learning the limits of FDM

@aaronpk No rain at all? What about the May flowers?

    Aaron Parecki
I'm sure the rain will be coming right after this

Wow its crazy how much your taste for color grading changes over time.

Heres a sample with 6 months difference between the two.

Someone needs to tell me how to effectively get the table in the shot like that. How close is the camera to the surface of the desk? Are you looking down at the camera in these?

What have I missed? I'm guessing it's likely a bunch of 'long tail use cases' e.g. turning off water main for a broken pipe.

I'm not against smart homes! Just saying we need to drill down a bit and find better, more pragmatic use cases.
    Aaron Parecki
Probably my favorite "smart home" feature is the bed is tied into the whole system so the lights come on and off contextually. It sounds simple but it's so nice. I talk more about it here https://aaronparecki.com/2019/11/07/1/home-automation

I’ve felt fine for almost hours and within the past hour I started feeling really lousy. Feel like everything in my head is swelling. Throat, sinuses, muscles around my head. Weird pressure behind my eyes, dizziness. Just came out of nowhere. I thought I was in the clear. Oh well. Worth it.

    Aaron Parecki
For me it ended just as suddenly as it began! Just take it easy and don’t plan on getting much done for the next 24 hours. Totally worth it.

Looks like a “true simmer” is actually lower in temperature. What I’ve been calling a kind of simmer for years is really a kind of low boil.

I think this old physics major has become the punchline of the “imagine a spherical cow” joke .
    Aaron Parecki
My main argument is that you can't cook the pasta faster even if the water is boiling harder, because water can't get hotter than boiling.

The temperature of the water is the same, either way. Your method is the more climate-friendly and energy-saving.
    Aaron Parecki
you wouldn’t believe the number of times I’ve tried explaining this to a certain someone...

If you were closer I’d say drop one off for my Post Production World class tomorrow! Oh well.
    Aaron Parecki
Ah well, next time! I have some (mostly functional) prototypes I need to get rid of so don't be surprised if one of those shows up, unless you want to buy one of the "real" ones tomorrow 😉

I guess this (mini) tip on the Mini isn’t so mini after all.
    Aaron Parecki
The only thing missing from this picture is a nice stand for your ATEM Mini Extreme to attach all that gear to... 🤔😉

@aaronpk I've spent the past few days setting up InideAuth, microsub and micropub. Pretty happy with it. I'm now at the point where I need to parse all those micropub posts into a nice feed, like the one you have on your website. What tool did you use for that?
    Aaron Parecki
Nice! The thing that does most of the work for me is all in a library XRay:

    https://github.com/aaronpk/xray

It normalizes content from Microformats feeds as well as Twitter and other stuff. Then it's a matter of reformatting the resulting JSON into a nice feed using some templates

yuuup. One thing I forgot to mention in the post is some posts from 2004-2006 throw up "Error performing query" messages when I try to delete them.

I might have to use @aaronpk recommendation and just use my FB profile as a "placeholder". Can we dub this FB squatting? lol. https://twitter.com/aaronpk/status/1378792460801830913?s=20

I'd love to see you do a video about this whole process too! I just re-read that post and it's way more intricate of a process than I remembered it being! 😅
