One of my guilty pleasures is waiting until one of our cats yawns, and then sticking my finger just inside their mouth so they unintentionally bite down on it. They look so confused and nonplussed, every single time. Never gets old.

I'm very passionate about the debate on whether HTML is a programming language. Specifically my position is fuck the guys who come into these discussions just to gatekeep "real programming" and die on this hill. Instablocked.

I saw this and was like "honestly there's no way people are going to be still arguing about this"

... then I read the replies and omfg! so many new people to add to my block list.

I also went to go fix the MDN definition but saw someone beat me to it 😅

Hit the point in the pandemic where we rewatch iZombie. It is SO good. Definitely my favourite entry in the "misfit teams up with police to solve crimes" genre

The misfit is a zombie who works in the morgue and sees visions of what happened when she eats a murder victim's brains

We were in the middle of it and had to stop watching at the beginning of the pandemic. Has it been long enough that we can continue watching now? It gets dark.

on the other hand, it does sound like a fun challenge to re-implement it in the Fediverse world. Could probably be done with broadcasting join/leave events and using WebRTC for the audio call.

This is great! I noticed you also did the “if the client doesn’t use the refresh token in 90 days it will expire” thing which I think is a great addition to the lifecycle.

Feeling about ready to stop throwing cash into the rental money void. But buying in the Bay Area just doesn’t feel worth it (and I’m not sure if I even have the means). And at the same time, as my parents get older and less healthy, I don’t want to be anywhere else.

tbh the solution is to stop thinking about it as a rental money void. owning property can also be a money pit and renting avoids all that

Welp if I still had that Dogecoin from all those years ago, I'd have 11k today 😥

In 2013 or so I traded all my Dogecoin and got 0.05 BTC which was worth $20 at the time. Now that BTC is worth $1800 but I lost the key 😥

@aaronpk not sure if you meant "web view" as in embedded web view inside a native app - but if so that is not technically more secure. Launching a system browser prevents the calling app from keylogging in that web page.

I know you know me from a different context, but this is literally what I spend most of my time talking about 🙃 I have like a book and video course all about it 😉

Concrete example of auth prompt from a desktop app (google drive connecter) that does NOT use the system browser.
Placing it in a tweet so that I have a URL for it in discussions.

That's interesting, most of the other Google stuff has been moving to web views, even the native calendar integration on macos now! I wonder if this just hasn't been updated yet.

I bought a tricked out mac mini to use as my main workstation. Maxed out the RAM to 32GB. The M1 has non-upgradable RAM so you're stuck with whatever you got from the factory.

Nice. I'm always on the fence about spending so much on Apple stuff. To get the kind of power I really want in a computer it ends up costing like $3k or more and I'm just not really comfortable spending that much.

I just bought a Mac Mini a year ago so am stuck with that for a while. Can't wait for the new M1 Mac Mini to support more RAM.

Yeah the current models are a bit disappointing, but I bought the cheapest one and I'm not planning on using it for very intensive stuff so I figured at that price why not.

So about 2 months ago I ordered the new MacBook M1 Air based on lots of your recommendations, and I have to say, as a lifelong Linux user: it’s really nice! I’m using it as my personal laptop now and it’s really growing on me: super fast, good UI, no compatibility issues so far.

Nice! I just got the M1 Mac Mini for my studio and I've been enjoying it too!
