@aaronpk Ahh I have the same one coming from B&H... eventually.

    Aaron Parecki
Nice! I was going to send you a link to Dell where I got mine from but now they're out of stock! I must have got one of the last ones.

Doesnโ€™t help you get to San Diego any faster though.
    Aaron Parecki
Not like we can travel right now anyway. tbh if they made a flight simulator which was just waiting in a boarding line and sitting in planes I'd play the crap out of that right now.

In general, everything would be better if we turned it over to the engineers.

Thereโ€™s ongoing costs, too. You canโ€™t just /keep/ a pilotโ€™s license. You have to use it. If you donโ€™t fly a minimum number of hours a year, you lose it. So youโ€™ll have to rent planes.

Lots of pilots sell โ€œat costโ€ trips to travelers to fund their hours.
    Aaron Parecki
Yeah that's why I'm thinking this simulator idea isn't so far fetched ๐Ÿ˜‰

How did you master an ATEM mixer if it wasn't for doing the hours of practical work?
    Aaron Parecki
Say that gives me an idea... ATEM Simulator... you have to live switch an event and you lose points for every cut you mess up ๐Ÿ˜‚

@aaronpk is that how much a yoke, throttle, and pedals go for on eBay right now?

    Aaron Parecki
๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ thank goodness no. I got a T.Flight Hotas One for retail price, but I started going down the rabbit hole of looking at custom chairs and monitor mounts and it goes deeeeep

Why just settle for a tool that allows you to live in a room, rather than go explore the real world? Simulators have their place, especially in ground-school applications to explain flight concepts to newbies and re-qualifying pilots.
    Aaron Parecki
Because I've always wanted to fly a plane but that seems like a terrible idea for a number of reasons

I've been using Windows primarily for my video editing for a few weeks now. The ONLY major complaint that I can't figure out a work around for is you cannot set screenshot to autosave.

You HAVE to take the screen shot, then click on the preview, then click on save and save.
    Aaron Parecki
omg this was also my biggest frustration! It's not a lot, but that extra time does add up trying to add screenshots into a video!

I've understood that you have to have the Skype watermark on when using NDI, but I can't find any documentation to back that up, other than a Skype TX document (which this isn't; it's "Skype for Creators"). You can't turn it off but it's easily cropped. Is it REQUIRED to have on?
    Aaron Parecki
as far as I can tell it's also governed by their "Broadcast Terms of Service" here https://www.skype.com/en/legal/broadcast/

"any use of Skype software in a Program (as defined below) for Broadcast (as defined below) shall be subject to these Broadcast TOS"

@aaronpk @vibronet @zenithar @FiloSottile @bcrypt @evacide @brandur I've been thinking recently that I need to up my password game, but there are so many conflicting suggestions out there. What password management strategies do you all use/recommend?
    Aaron Parecki
I'm a fan of @1password, been using it for a few years now. Unique random passwords for each service. The only thing on my wishlist is that 1Password could generate passwords with words that also include caps and numbers cause some sites still have these requirements.

I see a lot of open source software projects that do not do a good job of describing themselves.

It's okay. There's nothing shameful about that.

    Most programmers aren't writers.

Just like most writers aren't programmers.

I can't code to save my life, but I can write some killer copy and content.

Know of any open source projects that need copy written?

    I want to contribute.

    Aaron Parecki
    I 100% agree!

I would love some help with some copy to finally launch some content at https://meetable.org!

@aaronpk I'm working my way through your Atem Mini videos and I'm wondering have you covered a workflow that would allow for replays? I'm using the AMP for live streaming local sports and it would be great to be able to add replays
    Aaron Parecki
I haven't talked about it much since I usually don't have a need for that, but if I did mention it at all it would be in the Hyperdeck livestream!

    HTTP spec hot take:

.well-known is like favicon.ico but moreso

Use link-based discovery, not hardcoded paths, jeeze
    Aaron Parecki
Ironically, favicons ended up going the link rel discovery path later too! even one of the first uses of hardcoded paths realized it was a bad idea.

I'd love UI ideas if ya got 'em.

    Aaron Parecki
Once I upload photos, there's a text box next to each photo. I can type in emoji that I want to use for that photo. If I type an emoji that's associated with another image it removes it from the other image. It's surprisingly quick to set up this way!
