Today is the first day @oktadev's new San Francisco HQ is open! I'll be at the new office all day taking pics and hanging out. Prepare for a lot of silly tweets :D I'm excited.

ooo can't wait to come down and see it soon!

HMU with your #photography workflow. How do you keep your photos straight, especially over a time-span of decades?

I'm particularly interested in how #indieweb folks approach this.
    Aaron Parecki
Right now most of my old photos are in Flickr 😭

I'm working on a new solution where I just store stuff on hard disks so it's easier to back up. I want to find a good organizational layer on top to add tags but haven't found anything I like yet.

Very nice! Yours looks great! I might have to make some UI improvements to mine based on your design :-)

@aaronpk just seen your website. While the moving avatar is hilarious and pretty cool... does that seriously mean any website can access the gyroscope without requesting permission?
    Aaron Parecki
Thanks! I didn't really think of it like that, but it's a JavaScript API to access the orientation of the device. https://caniuse.com/deviceorientation

But how often does it record points?
    Aaron Parecki
iOS doesn't guarantee delivery of location info at any time interval, those buttons on the settings screen expose all the controls iOS gives. In practice, at highest resolution, it collects up to one per second if you're moving, but if you aren't moving it slows down.

My voicemail greeting used to say "Hi, this is Gretchen, I don't check voicemail so please text me instead." The only reason it doesn't anymore is I switched providers and haven't even set up my voicemail anymore.

Or start making cameras with flash storage and wireless sync?
    Aaron Parecki
nah, my cameras already have wifi sync but there's no way I'm going to transfer a 14gb video file wirelessly

@aaronpk haha! while attempting to find this link on your website, i noticed your gyro controlled profile pic!

    Aaron Parecki
haha yes! That was a fun thing I did at IndieWebCamp Berlin! Blatantly copied from https://seblog.nl who found the code somewhere.

@aaronpk this was a fun video! But how did you not gas yourself with all those habaneros? I cook with them sometime but often end up coughing from fumes or burning on my skin just using one!?

    Aaron Parecki
Definitely had the windows open and the fan running the whole time. But I guess I also have a high tolerance? I eat habaneros for breakfast every morning 😄

Love it! Also would still like to know how many hours. As a fellow premiere user it’s always a curiosity. 😁
    Aaron Parecki
4 hours shooting, 9 hours editing. Some of the editing time was definitely watching tutorials on youtube.

    Aaron Parecki
I got them years ago from a local artist! Looks like he is selling them on Etsy now! https://www.etsy.com/shop/pixelparty

@aaronpk Why does indiewebcat not use her Micro.blog account? 😿 (Or does @indiewebcat.com only exist here as a consequence of some interaction with Manton’s new-ish IndieWeb-friendly usernames support?)

    Aaron Parecki
I forgot about that! Actually @Manton made that for testing and I didn't even know about it! I should talk to him about taking over the account so I can properly set it up!

Finally there is a blocklist interface! Now I can send webmentions from myself and not block my domain.

Do you plan on building a premoderation queue tied to Vouch support?

    Aaron Parecki
I'm not super happy with the code in this project overall, some of it needs a big overhaul, so I'm trying to avoid adding too many major features to it right now until I figure out a good plan for that.

related to my last thought, has anyone ever just archived their blog and started over? I’m tempted to just put everything in a subdomain and start over from scratch. I’m also tempted to retire themiklb.com domain as primary 🤔

@aaronpk oddly, I was just having to write documentation for PKCE flow that we're adding to Bixby's OAuth2 support.

    Aaron Parecki
Nice! Hope the post was helpful then!

I can select them, however, they don’t save. Javascript is enabled, have tested in both Safari and Chrome. I can toggle the switches below those buttons for other settings.

Is there a way to nuke my account in the app?

    Aaron Parecki
Ahhh found the bug! Should be fixed now, thanks!

@aaronpk, for some reason I can’t select whether I send my checkin as json or simple? Is it just a WordPress thing, “you’ll get what you’re given and you’ll like it!”

    Also on
    Aaron Parecki
hmm like the checkboxes don't do anything? they seem to work fine for me, do you have javascript disabled maybe?

Anyone who’s anyone read that as OAuth.
    Aaron Parecki
what's really confusing is when people from Oath come to the OAuth working group meetings

Hi, I'm Aaron Parecki, Director of Identity Standards at Okta, and co-founder of IndieWebCamp. I maintain oauth.net, write and consult about OAuth, and participate in the OAuth Working Group at the IETF. I also help people learn about video production and livestreaming. (detailed bio)

I've been tracking my location since 2008 and I wrote 100 songs in 100 days. I've spoken at conferences around the world about owning your data, OAuth, quantified self, and explained why R is a vowel. Read more.
