๐Ÿ˜ฑ And afterwards heโ€™s going to hang out with you to discuss the OAuth implementation on his website and that he wants to integrate webmentions next but still isnโ€™t sure if his PHP skills are enough. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ
    Aaron Parecki
๐Ÿ˜‚ I wish! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I hear he's hopping on a plane immediately after the talk! I was hoping he'd at least stick around for drinks.

Iโ€™ve been a long-time Overcast user, but Castro 3 did catch my attention. So I decided to give it a try. I find I have WAY to many podcasts and Iโ€™ve been using the multi playlist approach in Overcast but Iโ€™m wondering if the โ€œtriageโ€ approach of Castro might work well for me.

    Aaron Parecki
I switched to Castro a while ago for some reason, I think the "triage" feature caught my attention. But now that I've been using it a while, it doesn't actually map to how I listen to podcasts. I had forgotten that Overcast has the multi playlist approach, and now that sounds like exactly what I need! I might have to switch back!

I've been using this on my home network for almost a year now, it's really great! Bonus points that you can go in and edit the config file to define new domains on your network, like bar.bot :-)

We forgot to make beans for tacos yesterday, and even with the instant pot, we couldn't finish them before I leave for work at 6AM, so @aaronpk made me a smoothie and it is delicious (but not as delicious as tacos.)
    Aaron Parecki
    not so instant after all

@aaronpk I'm not sure if you did anything on your end, but adding this:

    SetEnvIf Authorization "(.*)" HTTP_AUTHORIZATION=$1

to .htaccess now works for me and OwnYourGram sent it's first post to my site.

    Aaron Parecki
Oh that's great news! I didn't change anything with OwnYourGram, but there was an IndieAuth plugin update last week!

@aaronpk In your post https://aaronparecki.com/oauth-2-simplified/#web-server-apps โ€ฆ, when you list the params in the query string, you wrote "code" instead of "response_type" ;)
By the way, very nice article!
    Aaron Parecki
wow, thanks for catching that! That should have been "response_type=code"!

Do I know anyone interested in building #indieweb tech or federated services? I'm having trouble conceptualizing some things without having people to bounce ideas off of.
    Aaron Parecki
Always welcome to drop by the chat! (IRC/Slack/Matrix, they're all connected) There's plenty of people there who would love to talk about things with you! https://indieweb.org/discuss

@aaronpk is there a simple, or at least do-able way, to transfer from webmention.herokuapp.com to webmention.io? Without loosing prior webmentions? I can download a JSON with all webmentions already received.

    Aaron Parecki
hm, I've never built an import function for webmention.io, but that's an interesting idea. I will consider it! But no promises on a timeline for it.

Yep. I clicked "try again" and let it sit for like 10 minutes and it eventually sorted itself out. Not a good start to my morning tho!

This seems interesting. Could you make a specific community out of that? Or is the stream a sort of omni-channel for all people posting with indie web?
    Aaron Parecki
This example in particular is following a couple dozen peoples' blogs and pulling out only the posts that match a list of keywords. You could definitely repurpose it for other communities!

@aaronpk In your post https://aaronparecki.com/oauth-2-simplified/#authorization you mention implicit has been superseded by auth code. do you know where I can find more details on this shift?
    Aaron Parecki
That page links to an email thread from several organizations who have moved away from it. https://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/oauth/current/msg16965.html I'm definitely due to write a proper blog post about this though.

@aaronpk @MissSteno Since I know you're a fan of linguistics (and the vowel r), I'll note that I've done some research into the history of stenography and found some interesting overlap with linguistics and ancient memory techniques: https://boffosocko.com/2014/07/05/the-mnemonic-major-system-and-gregg-shorthand-have-the-same-underlying-structure/
    Aaron Parecki
That's fascinating! I remember trying to learn Gregg shorthand when I was like 10. I never really got the hang of it, but have a lot of notebooks filled with practice squiggles!
